From year to year, students and parents in different regions of Russia ask the same question - will a five-day day be introduced in the country's schools, and, apparently, in 2019-2020 this problem will also be acute, and debates between supporters and opponents studies on Saturdays will not cease.
We suggest that you understand why at present many schools in Russia have not introduced such a desirable five-day day for many, and also find out what forecast is for solving this issue in 2019-2020.
Norm of law
According to the law of the Russian Federation “On education”, the work schedule for a particular educational institution is established by decision of the administration and the teaching staff, taking into account the specifics of the educational process.
This means that only the leadership of a school, lyceum or gymnasium has the right to decide whether classes will be held on Saturdays and for which classes a 5-day and for which a 6-day school week will be set. The decision is not made solely by the director, but by the entire teaching staff, taking into account:
- possible educational load on children with different work schedules;
- the total number of subjects studied in elementary, middle and high school;
- filling classrooms;
- staff of subject teachers and their workload;
- the presence of the division of classes into groups at certain lessons.
Five days at schools - Pros and Cons
A five-day work week is considered a priority and is recommended to all educational institutions, if there is a real opportunity to build such a work schedule.
Five-day proponents provide such arguments in support of their position:
- The child should have more than one day to rest, so as to distract from school and take up his hobby.
- Two weekends in a row is an opportunity to communicate more with children and parents.
- Five days does not violate the family schedule, because for most working parents Saturday is a day off.
- Having two free days in a row, families will be able to organize a joint vacation, trips to the cottage or to relatives.
- Based on the production calendar, it is precisely the 5-day week that makes it possible to take full advantage of the benefits provided by state holidays and the existing system for transferring “red calendar days” that fall on weekends.
These statements are close to every Russian family, because no one wants to get up “a little light” and get the child to school when you yourself have a day off and can soak up the bed longer. And it is extremely difficult for children to go to school knowing that the whole family is at home and resting on this day. But, the arguments presented are good for an ideal family format in which parents care about children, are interested in their development and leisure, make efforts so that each day of their son or daughter is filled with vivid emotions, new impressions and cognitive activity.
Speaking about the fact that the child should spend as much time as possible at home, we forget that there are a lot of families in which the children do not leave the computer or TV at the weekend and simply remain without adult supervision for a long time. Remember the last time you were with your child in a museum? Think about how the weekend usually goes in your family? Honestly answer your question - would something else change except the opportunity to sleep on Saturday?
Who needs six days?
For many general educational institutions of the Russian Federation, a 5-day work week is the norm. But, it is impossible to cancel Saturday for all educational institutions of Russia with one decree, because there are quite a lot of gymnasiums, lyceums and specialized schools in which children, in addition to basic subjects, study a number of additional disciplines, which significantly increases the academic load. In such schools, even under the condition of a 6-day school week, children have 7 lessons on a daily schedule. To free Saturday, it is often not enough just to deliver the 8th lessons, and it is still necessary to cut down the hours for teaching a subject, which is already contrary to the main document regulating the educational process.
And of course, we can’t talk about a five-day school in those few schools where, due to the lack of classrooms, the second shift has been preserved.
If you imagine that a five-day period became compulsory in Russian schools in 2019-2020, then students of specialized schools and gymnasiums would have to face such serious problems as:
- The increased load, because you would have to cook 8 lessons daily (some subjects in such schools are taught 3-4 times a week, and the phrase "teach on the weekend" is not applicable here).
- Almost complete lack of free time during the school week.
- The inability to attend circles and sections in other educational institutions, because the 8th lesson usually ends around 16:00 (depending on the start of the first lesson), and the child must at least have a snack before heading to music, dancing or sports training.
- Mugs at the school will be held in lesson 9 (which for many students will mean not already 8, but all 9 lessons in a row).
- An increasing psychological burden, because it is obvious that in such conditions the child will simply physically be unable to complete all the tasks and find at least some rest time.
When discussing the schedule, parents rarely remember the people who teach their children in schools, but do not forget about this side of the issue. The teacher is also a person, and it is as difficult for him to conduct a bright, interesting and rich 7th or 8th lesson as the guys can perceive new material in physics or mathematics at the end of the working day. As a result, the quality of education will suffer, which, of course, is unacceptable for high-ranking gymnasiums, lyceums and schools and in-depth study of specialized subjects.
In fact, teachers who have to read subjects on Saturday also face a number of problems, and above all:
- the lack of the necessary mood in children, especially in the first lesson;
- frequent absenteeism without a good reason, which creates a serious problem if the lesson is held once a week;
- in fact, the need to work on Saturday, which automatically means either a broken weekend schedule, or only 1 day off per week, which is a violation, but is taking place in today's realities.
Is a compromise possible?
In an effort to optimize the educational process, many educational institutions approve different work schedules for primary, secondary and high schools, setting a 5-day training schedule for grades 1-4, and a six-day period for senior (usually specialized) classes.
In an effort to make Saturday easier for children, they try to take out invaluable objects, disciplines of the creative cycle and physical education on this day. In many schools, the last day of the working week is declared “a day without uniform”, which is especially popular with children, because it allows you to show your personality. School events and excursions are often held on Saturday, which unites the team and fills the life of students with bright colors.
Will there be a five-day week in 2020?
No matter how students, parents and teachers would like to receive their legal day off, in 2019-2020, as before, there will be two types of schools:
- General educationin which subjects are taught at the “standard” level and a 5-day school week can be painlessly set.
- Specializedin which senior classes (and sometimes kids) will definitely study on Saturdays.
What should parents do?
In fact, parents need to be serious about choosing a school, evaluating not only the interior of classrooms and proximity to home, but also other important aspects:
- specialization in high school;
- training schedule for 1-4, 5-9, as well as high school;
- additional opportunities that the school offers are circles and sections.
If it so happened that the child has to study on Saturdays, the best that parents can do is to support him and set him up correctly. In no case should you ever be dissatisfied with the work schedule and the school as a whole. It is better to let your son or daughter understand how proud you are that he goes to a good school and receives a worthy education, be sure to focus on every, even the most insignificant, point of view from an adult.
And if you feel that both you and the child are absolutely not ready to overcome such difficulties, then just pick a school with a 5-day training schedule, because each of us has the right to choose. This will save you from unnecessary stress ... at least for the period until the time comes to think about the proximity of the exam and the quality of education received by the child.
Last news
Since April 1, 2019, Bashkir schools began to gradually switch to a 5-day period, as the acting head of the region, Radiy Faritovich Khabirov, said. Moreover, after the transition of educational institutions to a five-day system of training for schoolchildren, teachers' salaries will not change, and all employees will be warned at least 2 weeks before the innovation.
What difficulties may arise:
- Students in grades 2, 3, and 4 should not have more than 5 lessons per day in the curriculum;
- Children in grades 5 and 6 should not receive more than 6 lessons per day;
- Students from grades 7 to 11 should not be overloaded with more than 7 lessons per day;
- Math should not be the first or last lesson in a graph. The subject should not be held also after physical education and on Saturdays;
- Limitations affected physics and chemistry, as well as the Russian language. Subject teachers cannot teach 3 lessons in a row without intermediate windows.

1-well, in Russia, in all schools, food is like in prison, the difference is that food is free in prison
2-I’m just a high school student myself and we have such a program that in the eighth lesson, after eating a canteen balandana with hair, I’m just dying (even for this simplified Saturday school day, the main thing would be to not ask my homework on Monday) + after the ninth lesson a friend has to go 12km to the house in the dark
3 is Putin’s conspiracy, the country doesn’t need mentally healthy and smart people, it needs slaves who will not protest after Putin’s 666th term

Yes, you just need to return the old Soviet system of education, removing all the water from the supply of material, removing all kinds of crap like “our lands”, “Christian literacy”, “chess”, “second foreign language” ... If you open a textbook of mathematics or physics for 19060, your heart rejoices as everything is available served. And now - complete shit! And it will not be necessary to justify that “so there are 7 lessons, but there will be 8”. In the USSR, it was 5 days and everyone was literate. And now some executives, two words to link the unfortunate. But all of them have “lyceums” and “nanotechnologies”.

Dmitry hit the spot, respect. We ourselves are tormented with 6 full-time study, maybe the quality of teaching teachers to review, our min.education. What teachers come to our school?

If the teacher receives a decent salary (like that of sleeping deputies, approximately), and education improves. Children from five days will not suffer, it will be better to study, and parents will not get tired of their nerves one day. And all unnecessary items (remove the second foreign one if they are plainly do not know). I -for.

It is not difficult to add a salary, but where will a bad teacher take knowledge and love for children? This cannot be bought. If the teacher is bad, then he can and should only be kicked out. Salary will not help.

Five-day is terrible, why ?! 8-9 lessons is stress, depression is better to return in a six-day period!
ANNA
The current education system has already outlived itself and needs to be reformed. It seems to me 6 days or 8 lessons - it doesn’t matter when the children just walk around wiping their pants ... The current generation perceives information better through the monitor ... Or IF THE TEACHER'S EYES ARE BURNING to his subject, if teaching the children evokes joyful emotions, he conducts his lessons in a fun way. thereby INSPIRING ITS DISCIPLES TO STUDY HIS SUBJECT, RUN TO HIS LESSON AND ON SAT on Saturdays.

Why pay teachers a decent salary if no one wants to pay taxes. Everyone wants free education, medicine, benefits, pensions, and no one wants to pay taxes. Calculate how much your family pays taxes and how much it receives from the state. It turns out dozens of times less to pay than it gets.

Why do you go to the teacher, if only the salary can affect the quality of teaching ?! Previously, teachers received much less, but they tried to teach each student and helped laggards for free after classes.
If the school curriculum and the requirements for passing the exam and the exam are complicating, then the requirements for the education of teachers need to be increased, and lately, there have been a lot of scandals on TV with their participation!
