The World Cup in ski racing in 2020 will be one of the expected events of the upcoming ski season. Since the next World Championship in this sport will be held only in 2021, and the upcoming Winter Olympic Games only in 2022, fans will be able to concentrate all their attention on the cup starts and possibly predict future winners.
2020 Cup
The 2019/2020 World Cup starts in Finland on November 29 and will end almost by the end of March in Canadian Canmore. During this time, about 40 starts await skiers. That cup starts will be a guide for athletes in preparation for the upcoming World Cup and the Olympic Games.
In the calendar of ski races in 2020, an abundance of sprints can be traced with the practical absence of long distances of 30-50 km, relay races are also becoming a rarity. The organizer of the tournament, the international skiing federation FIS, explains the current trend with the low telerating of these disciplines, as well as the requests of representatives of individual countries who are not able to hold such competitions at national championships. On the other hand, the President of the Russian Federation of Cross-Country Skiing is convinced of the opposite, since it is relay races that often collect the highest television ratings in Russia and, most likely, in many other countries. In addition, Russia, as well as other world ski leaders (Norway, Sweden, Finland) has all the opportunities for holding tournaments within the country.
On a note! The 2019/2020 World Cup ski race calendar is tentative. The final version is due to be approved by the FIS Council in May 2019.

To find out which athletes will become owners of the Big Crystal Globes in the upcoming 2019/2020 season, fans can only in March 2020. As practice shows, the winner does not have to be a universal skier, winning sprint and distance stages. For success, it is enough to show good results in one form and not bad to speak in another. For example, in the season 2018/2019, even the 9th place in the distance classification did not prevent the Norwegian Johannes Klebo from becoming the first in the overall classification due to the victory by a wide margin in the sprint stages.
Performances of the best skiers of the planet throughout the tournament will be available on the Eurosport channel. Major cup starts will also be broadcast on Match TV.
