Vacations at first graders in 2019-2020

Features of the educational process for 1 classes

The main task of kids who have just crossed the school threshold is to rebuild and get used to the rules of school life, which for many children after the usual way of life in the walls of their own kindergarten can be a daunting task. Therefore, the main task of the teacher in the first months is the successful adaptation and socialization of children, the creation of a comfortable psychological climate in the team, and the support in children of a craving for knowledge.

In order to minimize stress, for first graders there are special training conditions, namely:

• lack of ratings (especially negative);
• lack of homework;
• 5-day chart;
• lessons of 35 minutes;
• only 3 lessons per day (first 2 months);
• no more than 4 lessons starting in November and only once a week 5 lessons with the reservation that one of them is physical education;
• compulsory nutrition;
• extended day groups;
• additional holidays, which in 2019-2020 for first-graders will take place at the end of February.

Of course, for children, other norms of regulation of the period of study and vacation periods are also relevant, stating that from the beginning of September to the end of May children are expected to have at least 30 days of rest, the vacation period cannot be less than 7 days, and in summer, rest should be 2 months or more.

Semester training

The traditional semester system, according to which all educational institutions once worked, remains relevant for many Russian schools. It is characterized by long study periods (4 quarters), between which the children have a vacation time:

Please note that in most cases the rest periods are much longer than the 7 days included in the vacation period, because weekends are added to it, as well as holidays in some cases.

Thus, the first (autumn) holidays for first-graders in the 2019-2020 academic year will provide kids with 10 days off in a row (7 vacation days + 2 previous days off + holiday Monday 04/11/19).

The longest and most long-awaited winter holidays will begin with the children on December 26 and will last until January 8 (inclusive).

Important! There is a possibility of transferring the weekend from 01/04/20 to 01/09/20 and from 01/05/20 to 01/10/20. In this case, the vacation will be 18 days and will last until January 12 (inclusive).

The third quarter is the longest. Moreover, it was after the New Year holidays that the process of teaching first-graders from adaptive socialization gradually turns into the assimilation of new knowledge, which requires more return from the children. Psychologists and educators agree that it is the 3rd quarter that is given to children the most difficult. In addition, it is precisely in the second half of February that the period of the highest incidence of schoolchildren in ARVI falls.

In order to minimize stress and prevent epidemics of viral infections in educational institutions, it was decided to introduce additional February vacations for first-graders, which will be held from 02/25/20 to 03/01/20 in the school year 2019-2020.The kids will be given 9 days of rest immediately (6 vacation days + 2 days off before the holidays + Monday, 02.24.20 for February 23).

Spring break 2020 for students of 1st grade will be held as for the rest of the students from March 23 to 29. As in February, students will receive 9 days off (7 days of vacation + Saturday and Sunday on March 21 and 22).

The final fourth quarter of 2019-2020 will start from 03/30/20 and will last until the last bell, but in many schools the summer holidays of first-graders will begin not on May 26, but a little earlier.

Trimester training

The new trimester system has a number of features. It is designed in such a way that after every 5-6 academic weeks, students are given a week of rest. The advantages of such a system are undeniable:

1. more periods for rest, which more evenly distributes the load;
2. there is no long 3rd quarter, which is so hard given to all students;
3. 3 accounting periods instead of 2, which provides a more accurate assessment.

In schools working according to the trimester system in 2019-2020, the following holidays are provided for first-graders:

* By the decision of the school administration, summer vacations for students in the 1st grade may begin earlier.

Possible changes

The holiday schedules shown on the calendar are advisory in nature, and therefore the leadership of educational institutions has every right to develop their own training schedules.

Schools have the right to postpone the vacation (but not more than 2 weeks) in case of force majeure circumstances that entailed the suspension of the educational process.

Official adjustments can also make some adjustments to the schedule of school and vacation time, which will be approved for 2020 only in the second half of 2019. So, it is quite possible that the winter holidays will last until January 12, and the additional weekend from February 23 and March 8 will be postponed to May (by analogy with 2019).
