The third quarter is the longest study period of the 2020 school year, so all the children look forward to spring breaks, the dates of which do not coincide for schoolchildren studying in semester and semester systems. We will tell you when the coming spring will have vacation periods in different schools, and what factors can influence the choice of dates by the administration of educational institutions.
Important! Each educational institution in Russia, whether it be a school, gymnasium, lyceum or college, can independently determine the periods of the beginning and end of vacation time, taking into account the peculiarities of the educational process.
Learning Standards
The schedules drawn up in the Ministry are advisory in nature, therefore, in educational institutions they can deviate from the proposed dates, officially accepting their individual work schedule.
Unchanged for all educational institutions of the country are the following norms of vacation periods:
- The total duration of rest (summer holidays are not taken into account) - at least 30 calendar days.
- The duration of a break between training blocks is at least 7 days.
- Rest in the summer - at least 2 months.
- The transfer of the start date of the vacation is possible, but with a shift of no more than 2 weeks.
Thus, for schools working on the semester system, these are 2 periods of short vacations (autumn and spring) and a long 2-week break for New Year and Christmas holidays.
For educational institutions working according to the trimester system - 5 vacation periods (excluding summer holidays):
- 4 periods lasting 1 week;
- long winter holidays, which will still be shorter than with the semester system.
Holidays in the spring with the semester system
Traditionally, for Russian educational institutions studying in the semester system, spring breaks take place in the last week of March, and in 2020 most schools in the country will adhere to this schedule.
Spring break will be 1 week from 03/23/20 to 03/29/20.
Thus, children whose schools work on a 5-day basis will receive immediately 9 days of rest in a row. For them, the last working day of the 3rd quarter will be Friday, March 20. Students, for whom Saturday is traditionally a working day, will have a rest of 8 days. For such educational institutions, the last school number will be Saturday 03/21/20.
The last 4 quarter of the 2018-2020 school year will begin the same for everyone - on Monday, March 30.
Holidays in the spring with the trimester system
With the trimester study schedule, the end of the 2nd trimester will take place in February, and the children will have the opportunity to relax from 02.17.20 to 02.24.20. The first block of the third trimester will be slightly longer than the previous ones and will amount to 6 working weeks, of which 2 will be incomplete due to weekends postponed to February 23 and March 8.
For the trimester schedule, the spring holidays of the 2019-2020 school year are scheduled for the period from April 6 to 12, and the start date of the second block of the third trimester is Monday 13.04.20.
Thus, the last school day at five days will be Friday 03/04/20, and at six days - Saturday 04/04/20.
May holidays
Although the training schedules do not have the concept of “May holidays”, the government every year provides Russian citizens with additional long periods of rest for the May holidays.
By analogy with last year, the transfer of holidays is possible:

In this case, we get two periods of long weekend at once:

Important! The information is based on the draft production calendar of 2020 and can be changed after the adoption of the official decree on the transfer of weekends and holidays (in the fall of 2019).
Vacation transfers
As already mentioned, this schedule is recommended and the actual vacation dates in some educational institutions may not coincide with the proposed calendar. As practice shows, postponement of vacations more often happens with the semester system, since longer study periods allow this.
The reason for the shift in the schedule can be various force majeure circumstances: problems with heating schools, quarantines, as well as other events that led to the suspension of the educational process.
Important! The school administration is obliged to notify students and parents in advance of a change in the schedule of the educational institution.
As you can see, in different schools, lyceums and gymnasiums of Russia, vacation periods may not coincide. You can find out the exact training schedule by contacting the class teacher or the school secretary.
Also keep in mind that most out-of-school educational institutions, various circles and sections, as well as music and art schools take as their basis a semester schedule, which can lead to a mismatch of the vacation period with the main school. What to do in this case? As a rule, parents solve such issues individually, or plan a vacation and trips to the May holidays, which are the same for all types of educational institutions in Russia.
