Moscow expansion: new borders and map for 2020

The expansion of Moscow is ongoing and systematic. A map of the capital regularly changes borders, and by 2020 new territories will enter it. The Moscow master plan has been developed since 2005, with amendments in 2013. However, today it requires significant adjustments, since the development of the capital has already exceeded the scale that was expected only in 2025. In this regard, the leadership of Moscow and the Moscow region decided to join new territories to unlock their potential.

Territorial expansion objectives

The main city of Russia is constantly evolving. More and more residents of the country and abroad wish to move to a metropolis for work and life. Also, many domestic and foreign companies of various profiles prefer to invest to develop the local economy and receive substantial dividends.

The key to the further development of the capital is the accession of the territories of the Moscow region. Most people who live there, and so go to work in a metropolis, however, do not have such social privileges as Muscovites. On the other hand, a business that operates outside the MKAD pays taxes to the treasury of the region, not the city. Therefore, after the merger, the city treasury will have a greater income.

Another important problem of the city and the region is the transport connection. Many residents of the Moscow Region experience daily difficulties while traveling to and from work. At the same time, difficulties arise when using public as well as personal transport. With the expansion of the city’s borders, it is planned to primarily improve transport interchanges with the addition of new roads, metro stations, rail links, and the underground metro.

Moscow underground

Another task that the accession of new territories is solving is that part of the residents of the center would like to move to more spacious apartments in ecologically favorable areas. Despite the fact that in the center there are many advantages of living, people get tired of the constant fuss. In addition, the density of buildings in the center impedes the construction of new, modern residential neighborhoods with adequate infrastructure. Therefore, the construction of multi-storey buildings with an equipped territory in the suburbs is interesting not only for developers, but also for property buyers.

New borders of the capital

The main direction of expansion of the capital is chosen southwest. Here are concentrated many important objects of urban importance (for example, the airport). Also in this direction there is a large passenger flow.

Joining the city will improve the transport situation in this region, as the new position will be interesting to investors.

On the territory of the annexed settlements, it is planned to build new apartment buildings. When designing a residential quarter by construction companies, the Government requires that special attention be paid to social infrastructure, as well as green areas. New buildings should be provided with everything necessary for a comfortable life for people.

Until 2020, the borders of Moscow should extend to more than 15 settlements in the following administrative units:

  • Leninsky municipal district;
  • Naro-Fominsky municipal district;
  • Podolsky municipal district.

Further expansion of the borders of the capital is planned, and by 2025 it will have to have the following form:

New borders of Moscow

However, the conditions of the agglomeration are constantly changing and it is possible that the governing bodies of the city and region will choose a different strategy that will best meet the needs of modern times.

After the accession of a significant area of the south-western direction, the borders of the capital acquired the following outlines:

The expansion of Moscow and its new borders

New Moscow is the implementation of a project to upgrade the Moscow agglomeration and streamline urban planning zoning. Due to the annexed territories, the capital of Russia rose to 6th place among the largest cities in the world and became the largest city in Europe.

Transport

Providing a convenient way to move from one point to another is one of the main tasks of the agglomeration. In connection with the constant growth of the population and the increase in the area of the city, a comprehensive improvement of transport structures connecting various directions of Moscow is planned.

Metro development is the largest project that requires significant funding. Every year new stations are opened that allow connecting the region with other areas.

The construction of the Kalinin-Solntsevskaya line is ongoing, which in the future will make it possible to get to Vnukovo Airport using metro trains. It is planned that this line will be the longest in the Moscow metro. By the end of 2020, it is expected that the construction of the central part of the line will be completed with the formation of new Volkhonka, Plyushchikha and Dorogomilovskaya stations.

It is planned the emergence of a new metro line from the city of Troitsk, which will connect New Moscow with the South-Eastern District. Construction takes place in several stages with the serial connection of certain sections.

According to preliminary data, the subway map in 2020 will have the following form:

Moscow interchange

Another form of public transport that connects the center and the periphery is the underground metro. Its lines will run along the railway lines. The first trains should start moving in early 2020. The routes will connect Odintsovo and Lobnya, as well as Nakhabina and Podolsk.

With regard to vehicles, it is planned to open new roads and interchanges, which will significantly improve the situation with traffic jams.

Social infrastructure

The expansion of the territory will evenly distribute municipal and state institutions outside the MKAD. An important component of new residential complexes is the construction of kindergartens, schools, medical facilities, playgrounds. This condition is presented by the government to developers in order to provide people with full conditions for a comfortable life.

Also, developers should pay attention to parks and other green areas. Good environmental conditions are one of the positive aspects of the Moscow region. Therefore, in order to support this situation during the construction of multi-storey buildings, green areas should be included in the project immediately.

New buildings near Moscow

The expansion of the capital makes it possible to improve housing conditions for residents of the region and attracts investors to form various business sites. Which in turn also creates new jobs.
