The Euro 2020 ball is one of the main symbols of the football holiday (along with the emblem, mascot and victory cup). For each championship, its own unique symbolism is developed, which embodies the theme of the competition. This year the European Championship will be held in an unusual format: instead of one or two host countries, matches will be held in 12 cities of 12 different countries of Europe. The main distinguishing mark of these competitions is the bridge, which unites different nationalities with the help of football. Its symbolic image can be found on the logo and other attributes of Euro 2020.
Official qualification ball
For each championship, its own ball design is created, which allows you to identify this particular period and become a wonderful souvenir. At the end of March 2019, an image of the ball for the Euro 2020 qualifying round was published on Twitter. Qualification soccer ball is based on white color with red, blue and green accents. Designers decided to present the Earth as viewed from the sky. Fiery red colors represent the continents, and blue-green colors - the natural elements surrounding them. In the center is a football shirt placed in the heart.
The Euro 2020 qualification tournament will begin on March 21, 2019 and will last until March 31, 2020. Following its results, 24 teams will compete in the final part to compete for the title. At this stage, the national teams are divided into 10 groups, referred to from A to J. 5-6 teams compete in each group. In total, 55 national teams are among the participants.
In 2020, no team will be included in the championship automatically. UEFA representatives announced that an honest fight on an equal footing will take place between the teams, which in the future will provide them with access to the final part.
Final Ball Official
The official ball, which will be used for the final part of the European Championship, has not yet been made public. If compared with the previous tournament, then at that time the ball was shown to the public in November 2015, that is, more than six months before the start of the championship. It is expected that this time around will be approximately the same.
Since 1968, the official Euro balls have been developed by Adidas, a sportswear and shoe company. This tradition is likely to be preserved. In 2016, two styles were used for the matches of the final part: in the group round and playoffs. In 2020, it is expected that the company's designers will amaze fans with completely new interesting ideas. Indeed, their task is not easy - to create symbols for the anniversary European Championship.
Note. In 2020, the 60th Euro football tournament will take place with the participation of national teams.
Logo
The corporate identity for Euro 2020 was developed by the marketing company Y & R, specializing in advertising, social networks, direct marketing and branding. For the logo, a bridge motif was developed. The designers' task was to come up with an image that would express the theme of the connection of different peoples and at the same time personify the football addiction of each nation.
As conceived by the designers, the symbolic bridge unites all the countries that host matches. Just as bridges connect different shores all over the world, the football holiday can become the component that connects all people together. Along with common motives, each host city has its own distinctive features that are expressed by its cultural heritage: monuments, historical buildings, and, of course, stadiums.
A separate Eurocup 2020 logo has been developed for each city. According to the basic concept, it depicts the most striking and recognizable bridge, which is one of the main local attractions.
In St. Petersburg, images of the Palace Bridge were used. It is considered to be a visiting card of the city. To see this miracle of engineering, millions of tourists come to St. Petersburg every year. Several matches of the European Championship will be held in the northern capital: three games of the group round and one quarter-final.
Mascot
UEFA Presented Qualifications between Germany and the Netherlands competition mascot. His name is Skillsi (from the English word skill - skill). And his motto is “Now your move!”.
On the show before the match, Skillzi demonstrated to the public several movements of freestyle technology along with freestyle world champion Englishwoman Liv Cook and famous Norwegian freestyler Tobias Becks. They showed that self-expression with a soccer ball can exist not only in professional sports, but also in street football and freestyle.
Liv Cook also announced a competition in which residents of countries that accept Euro 2020 will be able to take part. Freestylers need to shoot a video where they will show their ball possession technique. Liv and Tobias will use the Internet voting to select the two best (boy and girl) from each country. In total, 24 finalists will be able to demonstrate their skills at various events of the tournament.
