Kia Sorento 2020

In the near future, Kia plans to introduce the fourth generation of the popular 2018-2019 Sorento crossover model. Although the manufacturer is trying hard to maintain the intrigue by hiding the body parts and interior elements of the novelty under tight camouflage, today we can say that the new Sorento will receive many interesting design and technical solutions.

Model history

1st generation South Korean crossover Kia Sorento was released in 2002. The basis of the largest SUV at that time in the line of Kia cars was laid by the Hyundai Terracan platform. The car had a frame structure and two options for all-wheel drive transmission:

• with a rigidly connected front axle;
• with Torque On Demand system with electronically controlled clutch.

2nd generation Kia Sorento, received significant design and technical improvements, introduced in 2009. The car became front-wheel drive, received an expanded engine range and an impressive package of new options.

3rd generation models left the assembly line in 2014, and in 2018 it underwent restyling, which gave the exterior a more aggressive look. The third generation of the Kia Sorento Prime, which can be purchased at car dealerships until 2020 inclusive, is as close as possible to a premium class SUV, which allowed the car to successfully compete with numerous European representatives of the class.

4th generation, the presentation of which is expected at the end of 2019 or in 2020, promises to be a completely new generation and to please connoisseurs of the model with large-scale changes in the exterior, interior and technical characteristics of the car.

Kia Sorento Prime (3rd generation)

If you are looking for a stylish, reliable, roomy car with a good cross but at a reasonable price for a large family, be sure to pay attention to the restyled version of the Prime Kia Sorento, well-known to everyone.

Exterior

Externally, the facelift model received only a small number of design improvements. You can distinguish a new model from its predecessor by such elements as:

• a new GT-Line radiator grille that retains the recognizable shape inherent in Kia;
• improved head optics with slightly modified geometry;
• LED fog lamp modules in the original “cubic” design;
• R-19 rims
• The changed style of the bumpers.

In addition to the classic chrome, which is present in the decoration of almost all Kia models, the new Sorento Prime, which will be available in 2019 and 2020, will be applied with a variation of the design of dark chrome. Such a stylistic decision will give the car a more spectacular look.

Interior

Salon Kia Sorento Prime will appreciate the quality materials and equipment, which many 2020 models envied in this price category will envy.

The new generation, which received the prefix Prime, is presented in the classic 5-seater and the new 7-seater saloon with a three-row seating arrangement.

Facelift also touched on the equipment and interior design of the 3rd generation model. For maximum comfort for the driver and passengers, here are provided:

• comfortable multi-function steering wheel 4-spoke design;
• perfectly readable dashboard, which in the most expensive trim levels will be duplicated by the projection display;

One of the indisputable advantages of the 2018-2019 Kia Sorento release is its excellent interior transformability. The relatively small trunk of a 7-seater crossover with all the seats unfolded is all 124 liters, but after maximum transformation, it increases to 1,730 liters. It is worth noting that in the course of the reformation, an absolutely flat surface is formed.

Kia Sorento Prime, which can be purchased at car dealerships in 2019 and early 2020, is presented in three trim levels:

In Russia, cars assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad will be presented. The basic equipment will cost customers about 1.8 million rubles, and the most “charged” version is 2.7-2.8 million rubles.

2020 model (4th generation)

In 2020, the new 4th generation Kia Sorento is expected, which will replace the facelift Prime.

The presentation of the new items should take place in autumn 2019 or at the beginning of 2020 (the exact date has not yet been announced). In the spring of 2019, the production version of the improved Kia crossover passes the final stage of road trials.

Although the manufacturer carefully conceals what the new 2018-2019 Kia Sorento will be and what specifications the new product will receive, some facts have leaked to the network.

Exterior

After the release of the model Kia telluride Sorento lost his title of "the largest car in the line", which pushed the engineers and designers of the company to create its improved version, which will receive:

• a new body, which is obviously close in size to the Telluride model;
• matrix head optics;
• a different shape of the side mirrors;
• exclusive pattern of rims;
• modified profile of the front wings.

Judging by the first photos of the muffled Sorento camouflage, one thing is for sure: the chrome parts on the body will definitely remain, but in general, a grown car should look spectacular, combining reliability and dynamism.

Interior

If the spy photos managed to consider individual elements of the body, then assess the changes that have occurred in the cabin is not yet possible. One thing is obvious - they will be quite significant.

Since the model claims to be in the premium line of Kia cars, it can be expected that the interior equipment will include the most innovative options presented by the closest Asian and European competitors.

The novelty will become a Hyundai Santa Fe platform platform and will receive a similar line of powertrains:

Both petrol and diesel versions will be aggregated with an 8-band robot.

A hybrid version is also expected, on which they plan to install a 48-volt starter-generator.

Price and start of sales

The new KIA Sorento Prime, the premiere of which may take place before 2000, should go on sale by next summer, but it is hard to say what its price for the Russian market will be, because there is practically no information about the trim levels and the main characteristics of the model.
