Russian ski track in 2020

On February 8, 2020, the 38th race “Ski Track of Russia 2020” will be held. The purpose of the event is the popularization of sports and a healthy lifestyle.

Sports to the masses

For the first time, skiers from all over the country started in 1982, and since then, “Russian Ski Track” has become the most anticipated event for amateur athletes from Moscow to Kamchatka. There are no restrictions on gender, age, citizenship. The only thing that can become an obstacle to participation in races is the state of health.

Traditionally, competitions are held on the second Saturday of February, so in 2020 the date of “Russian Skiing” fell on the 8-9th of this month. These days, famous athletes, politicians, media personalities, and, of course, those who simply love skiing, will launch. The motto is the same for everyone: “Sport is open for everyone!”

In addition to the date, athletes are looking forward to announce the central city of the competition. Probably, in 2020, "Ski Track of Russia" will meet Moscow or Moscow region. Last year, Novosibirsk became the capital of the race. In 2019, 73 subjects of the Federation declared their athletes, and even weather conditions did not become an obstacle to sports. In 12 regions, the race was postponed to a later date, but the event was not canceled. Only in Khabarovsk because of the snowy winter had to abandon it.

In the 37th race, 1.5 million people took part. In the distance, you could see the Olympic biathlon champion Anton Shipulin. A well-known athlete in 2019 took only third place, although a year earlier he confidently won. In support of the slogan “Sport is open to all!” Shipulin presented his skis to the governor of the Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev, and he ran a distance of 2022 m on them.

Action plan

All information about the Russian Ski Runs 2020 is published on the official website. While there is no data, you can focus on last year’s plan. 38 years ago, when it all started, the race was held on the same day, but with the increase in the number of participants in the schedule, the second day also appeared.

The competition format provides for three types of mandatory distances:

  • five-kilometer race;
  • ten-kilometer race;
  • VIP mileage, the default distance of which is equal to the year of the event.

Regions set variable races. For example, in Nizhny Tagil already in 2019 2022 km fled. This was timed to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the city in 2022. International competitions have become popular or separately highlight distances that only students or children go to.

The five-kilometer distance is designed for participants not older than 18 years of age (born 2020 and younger). Ten kilometers more experienced athletes go. However, there are no winners or losers in the competition. Last year, a three-year-old kid went on a distance, who walked as much as 800 m with his mini-skis, and this was a record for the young athlete. In 2019, the oldest participant was 93-year-old pensioner Pyotr Yaldiryakov from Kazan.

How to register for skiing

This mass event has no restrictions on filing applications. You can register even on the day of the race. As a rule, a start is given no earlier than 12 hours, so from 8.30 to 11 it is quite possible to approach the representatives of the credentials committee, provide them with the necessary documents and get their starting number.

Registration is possible online. To do this, go to the official website, find a link to the regional office there and fill out the form. You can also contact the sports committee of your city and submit a written application.

Immediately on the day of the competition, each participant provides the following documents to the credentials committee:

  • passport or other identity document;
  • doctor admission for participants under 18 years of age;
  • MHI policy, health certificate from doctors or a statement with a personal signature on responsibility for one’s health.

In the end, the winners in each age group must be announced. They are awarded medals and diplomas from the Ministry of Sports. The first place winners are also awarded with a cup. Each participant is given a souvenir cap and a T-shirt with the emblem of the competition before leaving for the start. The “Russian Ski Track” is held not only under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports. This race always has a lot of sponsors, who themselves often go to the start, therefore, in addition to official awards, athletes always receive additional gifts.

How is the "Ski Track of Russia" in the regions

In 2019, Tatarstan became the champion in the number of skiers. Here, 172 thousand people registered at the start. Only in Kazan there were 21 thousand of them. Moscow, which was always considered the most active, only slightly advanced ahead of the Third Capital of Russia.

Surprised Chuvashia. 65 thousand participants started in this region. Among them was the winner of the Winter Youth Olympic Games 2016 freestyle Lana Prusakova. Among Moscow, 22 thousand people included Olympic champion in speed skating, Svetlana Zhurova. Interestingly, the winners are usually amateurs, not professionals, while none of them are specially prepared for the race, but simply go for a run three or four times a week.
