The 8th generation car will be released in a new body - a 4-door coupe! Although visually it is not much different from a sedan, there are a number of design features that relate the car to a new class for the Sonata.
The exterior is formed by such design and engineering solutions as:
- elongated hood;
- Hidden Lighting Lamps - hidden strips passing through the entire car body, which are highlighted along with daytime running lights;
- new head optics;
- new bumper, which received a narrow chrome strip and large air intakes;
- larger radiator grille;
- high glazing line;
- a sloping roof that improves the aerodynamic performance of the car;
- unusual shape of the rear lights in the style of Honda Civic, visually combined into a single object with a narrow LED strip passing at the bottom of the trunk lid;
- multi-level rear bumper with narrow stripes of dimensions;
- short rear overhang.
Experts noted some similarities in the exterior of the new 2018-2019 Hyundai Sonata with Audi A5 and Volkswagen Arteon cars.
It is expected that buyers will be offered 8 options for the color scheme of the body:

If in appearance you can see some common details between 7 and 8 generations, then the interior is presented in a completely new quality. The developers themselves noted that the interior space will be rethought.
The car has got a new innovative and multi-functional steering wheel. The dashboard is a widescreen display with a diagonal of 12.3 inches.
The multimedia system is made at the highest level - it is controlled by touch or gestures. As a result, this allows the driver to interact with the car in the most simplified manner. For this, there are also two monitors with a diagonal of 10.25 ″. Moreover, they are connected seamlessly and form a single block. If the owner of the Sonata 2020 car has a phone equipped with NFC technology, then after installing a special application on it, the smartphone can be used as a key.
At the bottom of the center console are two tapered ducts.The climate control panel is equipped with new round selectors. At the transition point of the console into the central tunnel there is wireless charging, several USB ports, as well as a 220V outlet. Near the gearshift knob flaunts a button selector and two cup holders in which you can both warm up and cool drinks.
All interior trim is made of natural materials:
- skin
- tissue;
- metal;
- high-quality plastic.
The seats of the first row have a multi-zone heating system, and passengers of the second row will be able to adjust the backrest, which will make a long trip in a Hyundai Sonata 2020 model as comfortable as possible.
Specifications
At the heart of the 8th Generation Sonata is a new platform with independent architecture. Thanks to this innovative approach, engineers were able to:

Price and start of sales
An official release date will be set after the presentation, which is due to take place in April 2019. The venue is New York. In the US car dealerships, a new generation Sonata will appear in June.
In Russia, Hyundai Sonata will appear a little later. Primary Primary cars will cost 1.28 million rubles to domestic buyers. The cost of picking Comfort will cost a little more - 1.425 million rubles or more (depending on options). Style lovers will have to fork out, because the cost of "charged" models will start at 1.475 million rubles.
