Professional holidays are an occasion to thank representatives of various specialties for their work and pay tribute to the path chosen once. Among other "peaceful" professions, accounting is considered to be one of the most complex and demanding in vain. After all, the work of an accountant is not just the calculation of numbers, but the real responsibility for the work done - sometimes financial, and sometimes personal.
date
What date is the Day of Accountant in our country? The answer to this question is far from simple. The fact is that there are several similar, that is, with a similar name. First of all, this is the generally accepted Accountant Day in Russia.
Accountant Day in 2020 is celebrated on November 21, Saturday.
Oddly enough, this event is not included in the number of official professional holidays. Yes, despite the fact that hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people celebrate Accountant's Day annually in our country, this holiday does not exist at the state level. So, this celebration is not a day off either.
This date was chosen in honor of the signing of the law “On Accounting” - on November 21, 1996, the legislative act was adopted in Russia, and in 2002 at the second Congress of Accountants it was decided to celebrate its own corporate holiday. However, this decision remained only at the level of the community of accounting professionals, that is, the official status of the event was not fixed.
Again, the question of the status of professional triumph was raised only twelve years later - in 2014. However, the question of including the holiday in the official list of professional days in Russia is still open.
Accountant Day in the regions
Due to the fact that the status of the celebration is not fixed at the federal level, a lot of confusion and inconsistencies arise. So, in a number of areas, the regional government considered it necessary to establish its own Accountant Day.
- Yaroslavl region celebrates this day on the first of April April;
- Volgograd region celebrates Accountant's Day in the fall, November 1;
- Krasnoyarsk Territory decided to honor the employee of the calculator on November 12;
- Krasnodar Territory - on the first December Sunday;
- Tatarstan celebrates Accountant’s Day also in November, but already on the last Friday.
Accountants in Moscow also have their own holiday. The celebration is called the Day of the Moscow Bookkeeper and is celebrated on November 16. Petersburg decided to honor its skilled accountants a day earlier, on November 15th.
Celebration in honor of accountants - version two
In addition to the already well-known Accountant's Day, there is another holiday with a very similar name - Chief Accountant's Day or Chief Accountant's Day. This is another reason for date confusion. Moreover, this event is celebrated in the spring, and questions about the exact date of the celebration can cause difficulty for many.
The day of the chief accountant falls on April 21. In 2020, this holiday falls on Tuesday.
Day of the chief accountant is also not included in the number of official professional days, is not a day off.
In whose honor was this number chosen? The reference point was the release date of the magazine "Glavbukh" - literally the pillars of all accounting professionals.
International version
Finally, the third version of the professional holiday of all accountants is International Accountant Day. And this is perhaps the most famous and widespread version of the professional day. By the way, it is also celebrated in the fall.
International Accountant Day is celebrated on November 10th.
In English, the celebration sounds like International Accounting Day or, in short, Accountant’s Day - Accountant’s Day.
The date was not chosen by chance. At the end of the 15th century, the book “Everything about Arithmetic, Geometry and Proportion” appeared, authored by a certain Luca Pacioli, a Venetian scientist and teacher. In fact, this Talmud contained all the knowledge about the mathematics of the Middle Ages.
How does mathematical work relate to accounting? The fact is that the author included in the book one curious chapter - “On accounts and other records”. And here he collected everything that was known about bookkeeping - commercial accounting. It is not surprising that "All About Arithmetic" has become a handbook for almost every third resident of Venice - the state of merchants and scholars. The following circumstance also speaks of the importance of labor: typography was invented only 50 years before the publication of the book, and each printed copy was very expensive.
The work of Luca Pacioli was so significant and significant that the author was nicknamed the father of accounting. By the way, most of the principles of conducting commercial accounting described by Pacioli, have survived to our times almost unchanged and are still used.
This day in other countries
Our neighbors in the CIS have their own professional holiday of bookkeepers.
- Kyrgyzstan - April 3;
- Moldova - April 4;
- Ukraine - July 16;
- Kazakhstan - November 6;
- Uzbekistan - December 9.
In these countries, unlike Russia, Accountant Day is fixed at the legislative level, that is, it is considered an approved professional celebration. True, in none of the listed states is included in the number of official non-working holidays.
