History of occurrence

For the first time, Bartender’s Day was celebrated in the Ukrainian capital, the city of Kiev. All events took place on the territory of the Docker Pub rock club. The main initiator was the Planet Z International Center for Bartenders, which specializes in training professionals working at the bar. In 2009, other institutions supported the idea. In addition, the holiday quickly crossed the line - it began to be celebrated in Russia. Later, other countries of the CIS and Europe joined Ukraine and Russia. Every year, more and more large-scale events are held at the local and international level.

This holiday is often associated with St. Amanda's Day. The fact is that the Catholic Church honors his memory on February 6. It is believed that the day for the professional holiday was chosen for a reason, since St. Amand was the first bartender in Europe. Moreover, he is considered the patron saint of winemaking. Amand became a monk at the age of 20, although all his relatives were against such a decision. He went from France to Rome, and after that he was engaged in missionary work, worked in German bars. After 15 years, he became bishop.

In fact, a professional holiday practically does not intersect with St. Amanda's Day, despite some connection. The fact is that it is celebrated mainly in Orthodox states where a Catholic saint is honored.
