In late May - early June 2020, all 9th grade graduates are expected to test to assess their knowledge for the course of basic general education in the form of the Basic State Exam (OGE). Its results are evaluated in points, which will be further interpreted into a standard five-point system using the established translation scale. The obtained values affect the final grades, which will be recorded in the certificate.
Key Organizational Points
To participate in the examination process, the student must fully understand the high school program, as evidenced by his satisfactory annual grades in subjects. The main state exam involves certification in 4 subjects: two required and two to choose from the proposed list. Compulsory disciplines include Russian language and mathematics. Elective subjects include 9 core disciplines that the student had to master during the time he received his general education.
The student must decide on the choice of disciplines before March 1, 2020. The corresponding statement indicating the selected subjects is made in the educational organization. The student can change his choice after the specified period, if he has a good reason for this, which he can confirm with documents. In this case, he writes a statement to the state examination commission, where he describes his request and the reasons.
The official start of the examination campaign is scheduled for late May (25th).
Until this time, an early stage can take place in late April - early May. It is intended for students who, for good reason, will not be able to pass the exam in the main period:
- graduates who are called up for military service;
- Athletes participating in training camps or competitions;
- students who have health problems, etc.
The retake period begins in September, with the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
In the process of examinations in each subject, the student scores a certain number of points. Verification of work is performed by a special commission, which evaluates the correctness of the answers and assigns them the corresponding value. The final grade will be set on the basis of the scale for the translation of the Unified State Examination points for 9th grade, approved by Rosobrnadzor for 2020.
Work check
Evaluation of the completed examination work is carried out by a special subject commission of qualified experts. The works are checked by two specialists (competent in this discipline) independently of each other. They put the appropriate values for the answers in the protocol, which is further processed in the RECO. If there are disagreements in certain values, a third specialist is appointed for verification, the assessment of which will be final.
Entries written in drafts are not examined by the expert committee and are not taken into account when setting the final grade.
In some cases, by decision of the authorized bodies, it is possible to organize an exchange of examination papers between various subjects of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the organization rests with the local authorities who initiated this exchange.Nevertheless, even if the work will be evaluated in another region, their verification must be completed in the time frame approved by law.
Points Transfer Table
According to order No. 1393 of December 25, 2013 on the procedure for conducting GIA, examination papers should be checked no more than 10 calendar days. Further, the points that the students scored are transferred to the five-point system. The result obtained is used to set the final grade, which will be indicated in the certificate.
The final grade for the certificate is equal to the average result of the exam and the annual mark. Between these estimates, the arithmetic mean value is calculated and rounded up. Thus, due to the OGE, you can improve your performance on the subject.
Rosobrnadzor sends recommendations on the interpretation of scores to students by executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which are responsible for education. The Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science forms a recommendation scale for the transfer of points for the Unified State Examination, which can be used to summarize the results of examinations in the subjects of the Russian Federation. The final decision on the interpretation of the results is made by local authorities.
In 2019-2020, almost all KIMs for the OGE will receive significant improvements. The maximum score in many subjects will also change, which in turn will lead to certain changes in the table of interpretation of the results.
We bring to your attention a table comparing the maximum scores of the United State Examination 2019 and 2020.

Requirements for profile classes
The results of the CSE are taken into account when a student enters the profile 10th grade. The Rosobrnadzor recommends setting the minimum acceptable threshold - 80% of the total result that the student received for writing an examination paper for each subject subject. In numbers, it looks like this:
Discipline | 2020 year | 2019 year |
Russian language | 26 | 28 |
Maths | 18-19 | 18-19 |
Physics | 30 | 30 |
Chemistry (with experiment) | 27 | 25 |
Chemistry (without experiment) | 27 | 23 |
Biology | 33 | 33 |
Geography | 23 | 24 |
Social science | 28 | 30 |
Story | 24 | 32 |
Literature | 26 | 22 |
Informatics and ICT | 13 | 15 |
Foreign languages | 55 | 56 |
The FIPI will present a more detailed scale for the translation of test scores by the OGE 2020 into a 5-point rating closer to the end of October - the beginning of November 2019. As soon as the information is available, we will be the first to talk about what changes will be officially approved for the upcoming GIA-9 season.
Retake
Repeated passage of the OGE can be prescribed in the following cases:
- the student missed the exam for a good reason (and can document this);
- the student interrupted the writing of certification for a good reason (which can also be documented);
- cancellation of results by an expert commission;
- Satisfying a student’s appeal
- receiving a poor grade.
For retaking exams, reserve days may be involved, which are provided for in the schedule for the main period of the exam. If the student has repeatedly received an unsatisfactory mark in one or two subjects on reserve days, he has the right to undergo certification in the relevant subjects in September 2020.
We also offer to learn more about the planned innovations in the OGE 2020. after watching the video of the FIPI press conference:
