Modular vacation schedule for 2019-2020

Many European schools practice modular education today, and today we suggest figuring out how such a system abroad differs from the one offered in Russian schools and what will be the estimated modular vacation schedule (per trimester) for schools with a trimester curriculum for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Modular training is a special way of organizing the educational process, which is based on an innovative block-modular system.

The essence of the methodology

For all parents, the classical educational system is well-known and familiar, in which the academic year is divided into two semesters (4 quarters), and students have 4 vacation periods:

1. Autumn (end of October);
2. winter (New Year holidays);
3. spring (end of March);
4. summer (3 months).

Modular involves a slightly different organization of study time, in which students have 3 study blocks (trimesters). Each of these blocks is divided into two study periods with short intermediate holidays (about a week).

As a result, the structure of the school year and, accordingly, the schedule of modular holidays for students for the coming 2019-2020 year can be presented in the form of a table:

It is expected that in 2019-2020 the number of educational institutions in Russia that will switch to a new training schedule and, accordingly, modular holidays, will increase. Despite the fact that for our country this system is quite new, and many parents are skeptical of it, the experience of European countries proves its effectiveness.

Great Britain

The modular education system is relevant for most schools in the UK. Recall that it is education in this country that is considered a priority for those who are looking for a good European school for the child and the further prospect of joining one of the most popular universities in Europe.

Germany

Trimesters and modular holidays are also valid in Germany, but the system of this country is significantly different from that proposed in 2019-2020 for Russian schools, because the set of subjects in each module can differ significantly (especially in high school) depending on the chosen profile. Holiday schedules in Germany and Russia also do not match. It may seem strange to many of our compatriots, but in many European schools the school year ends in mid-July, but children are given longer periods of rest between trimesters.

USA

Many U.S. schools have also adopted a modular system, but they set the holidays individually in each educational institution and the schedule for 2019-2020 may be different.

Finland

In schools in Finland, the school year begins in mid-August, but the vacation schedule is close to modular - children receive short autumn and February holidays, as well as a two-week holiday for Christmas.

France

Many schools in the country have a 4-day school week. Wednesday is a day off. It is believed that this way the children are not overloaded and get more time to communicate with the family and self-training. In addition, students are given 5 vacation periods.But, the start and end dates of training modules vary. Three zones have been established (A, B, C) with different vacation dates - this allows you to avoid too much influx of cars on the roads of the country and the hype in the recreation areas.

Modular holidays in the Russian Federation

As you can see, in different countries not only the dates of the periods of rest differ, but even the month of the beginning and end of study. In Russian schools, the schedule of modular (syst. Trimesters) and classic (sist. Quarters) vacations for 2019-2020 also does not coincide, so carefully read the calendar that will be approved in August for your school.

Important! The vacation schedule presented in this article, as well as the proposed academic year structure by the ministry is only a recommendation. If the school considers it necessary to deviate from the dates given, it can do this by officially approving its individual work schedule.

Please note that the holidays in most extracurricular educational institutions (music, art, choreography and sports schools) are held according to the old (semester) system, which can cause some inconvenience when planning a family vacation.

Force Majeure

If, for any reason, the 2019-2020 school year will have unplanned periods of break in school hours, the schedule of modular holidays drawn up to September can be reviewed by the school administration. So, in the 2018-2019 academic year, the Moscow authorities recommended that schools reduce their holidays with a modular education system from 7 to 3-4 days. In some schools, it is initially established that the date of the last call of 2020 is not May 25, but May 29. February holidays can also be rescheduled if the New Year holidays are extended until January 12, or if an outbreak of SARS is expected to occur during the last week of February.
