In the coming 2020, an important event will take place - the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. In order to emphasize the significance of the date, Vladimir Putin decided to hold the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia.
Recall that earlier the president was inclined to the proposal of the members of the Council of Culture and Art to call 2020 the Year of Folk Art in Russia.
75 years of Victory in World War II
The text of the decree on holding the Year of Memory and Glory in Russia, which Vladimir Putin signed on 07/08/19, states that this decision was made in order to preserve historical memory and commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The preparation of the celebrations, which will be held as part of the Year of Remembrance and Glory, will be undertaken by the Russian Victory Organizing Committee under the personal supervision of Anton Vaino (head of the Kremlin administration).
Within a month, the government should present a plan of key activities, the implementation of which will be undertaken by regional authorities. The priority direction of 2020 will be the care of veterans and participants of the Second World War. For this category of citizens in the near future it is planned to increase payments and introduce new annual payments by Victory Day. They will not forget about the museums, in the walls of which the memory of the most important moments of history is kept.
At the same time, in his speech, the president focused not on what is being prepared for each event sincerely, and not formally “for reporting”.

About other ideas for the 2020 theme
Previously, various ministries and departments offered many options on the topic of 2020. There were recommendations to devote the coming year:
- entrepreneurship;
- diplomacy;
- Yesenin;
- humanitarian cooperation, etc.
However, the president most of all the proposed options liked the idea of folk art, which was expressed at the December meeting of the Council by the head of one of the local amateur houses of Ugra, Islamamuratova E.
The idea was dictated by the holding in 2020 in Bashkortostan of an event of international importance - the sixth World Folk Exhibition.
The exhibition will be held in mid-summer and will cover all the settlements of the region. Representatives of 73 states showed their interest in the upcoming events; at present, they have already received written applications. The question of participation in the international exhibition of more than 100 ensembles and collectives from around the world is being considered. It was not for nothing that Bashkortostan was chosen as the venue for organizing such a large-scale event - about 100 nationalities and nationalities live here together.
For 2020, Russia is scheduled to conduct a whole range of activities in the cultural, social and other spheres of life.
The head of state instructed the responsible artists to speed up the work on the formation of regional clusters. They will serve as a center of attraction for creative groups and folklore associations. The key goals of the clusters will be to increase the overall cultural and aesthetic level of the country's population and improve the tourist image in the eyes of the world community. The first cluster formations will be tested on themselves:
- Kaliningrad
- Vladivostok;
- Sevastopol
- Kemerovo.
Large theaters and museums will play an active role in this through the creation of a kind of branches. It is logical that in 2020, which is dedicated to Russian folk art, the most ambitious work will be carried out in this direction.
As Putin noted, rural clubs, art houses, cinemas, and other art institutions are experiencing hard times today. Many of them are on the verge of ruin. In this regard, they were instructed not to bring the matter to a close, but to take real measures to support them, restore and improve the situation as a whole.
The head of state posed a number of important tasks for government and regional leaders who should be resolved by 2020. These include an acute question on the employment of graduates of creative educational institutions. It will be necessary to consider, as a matter of priority, specific measures to improve the living and material standard of living of employees of cultural institutions.
From year to year, the number of foreign citizens who wish to receive education in the walls of Russian creative educational institutions is growing. Given these realities, the head of the country obliged to prepare a report on the provision of expanded access for representatives of other states to such training.
Based on the decision of the head of the country, a number of objects associated with the names of prominent representatives of the scientific sphere will gain the status of the national cultural heritage of the Russian Federation. In particular, this will affect the old part of the science city in the Moscow region, named after academician S.P. Korolev. In addition, some historic buildings located in other regions will fall into the state registry. Thus, the acquisition by the city of Borovsk in the Kaluga region of the status of an object of national cultural significance will help restore its center. Similar measures will be taken in the regional center of Tomsk.
As part of folk art events in Russia, timed to be held in 2020, the authorities have planned numerous performances by choreographic and vocal groups, as well as popular and emerging pop singers. Festivals, exhibitions, symposia and conferences, volunteer events and movements will be held throughout the country. For these purposes, it is planned to use the finished infrastructure of the capital and regions.
