Vocal contests are a chance for each artist to demonstrate his talent. In 2019-2020, many vocal competitions for children and adults will be held in Russia and abroad. Almost in every Russian city, song competitions of various levels will be held, where local talents and no less talented guests can take part.
Vocal competitions in Moscow
The capital usually hosts the most striking events where you can see vocalists from all over the country. For many artists, they become a great opportunity to "light up", to break into the world of professional music.
XI International Competition in Memory of Elena Fabianovna Gnesina
The competition of musicians and composers “Romanticism: Origins and Horizons”, dedicated to the memory of E. F. Gnesina, has a high academic level. It was created under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, together with RAM. The event is held on an annual basis, and classical music performers take part in it. The competition includes several sections where artists of various profiles will be evaluated: musicians, composers, accompanists and teachers. Vocalists will be able to show themselves in Section I in the nominations “Vocal Solo” and “Vocal Ensemble”.
Participants are divided into four age categories. The regulations vary for each age group:
- Up to 12 years. Duration of performance for vocalists is no more than 8 minutes.
- 13-17 years old. Duration should not exceed 10 minutes.
- 18-25 years old. Participants must meet the deadline of 15 minutes.
- 26 and more (without restrictions). The regulation is also 15 minutes.
For the competition, participants can choose works from different eras and styles - from classical and baroque to modern compositions. It is allowed to display several works if they do not exceed the time limit. At the end, participants receive letters and diplomas, and the winner of the Grand-Prix prize of 50,000 rubles.

XIII International Festival of Arts "Starry Hour"
Star Hour is one of the most popular and interesting creative competitions among children and adolescents. It is held in the Royal concert hall in the Ostankino building. In the framework of the competition, children's art of various genres and directions shows their art: vocals, playing musical instruments, theater and circus art, design and fashion shows.
The organizers of the event highlight the creative communication of children and the discovery of new talents among their main goals. And for each children's team this is an opportunity to demonstrate their skills throughout the country.
Vocal performers can participate in the following nominations:
- folk;
- stage;
- academic vocals.
Solo vocalists, duets, “small forms” (3-4 people in a collective), ensembles, choirs and orchestras can take part in the talent show. The age of the participants is from 6 to 25 years (a team member who does not fall within the age framework cannot apply for special prizes).
Temporary regulations:
- for soloists - a maximum of 2 compositions, in total not exceeding 8 minutes;
- for duets and “small forms” - general performance up to 8 minutes;
- for ensembles and choirs - no more than 12 minutes.
Awarding takes place at the end of the festival at the gala concert. Winners receive valuable prizes, diplomas, diplomas and cups.

Song competitions in St. Petersburg
It is no coincidence that the northern capital is considered the cultural center of Russia. St. Petersburg is the birthplace and place of activity of many great creative individuals whose talent is known throughout the country. Local vocal competitions in importance and scale are not inferior to Moscow.
XVII International Festival "Neva Prospects"
The event was created with the support of the IPCC. It is aimed at improving creative interaction among cultural figures, professionals and amateurs, popularization and preservation of cultural heritage.
Within the framework of the creative holiday, not only musical groups, but also artists, designers and fashion designers, photo artists, actors, masters of fine and decorative art can show their talent.
In 2020, during the festival, teachers will be able to take advanced training courses and receive a state-standard document that can be used in professional activities.
Vocalists can take part in the nominations of the following areas:
- stage;
- jazz;
- folk;
- choral singing;
- academic vocals.
Soloists, duets, "small forms", ensembles and choirs are allowed to participate. Performers of "solo" and "small forms" can show only one performance lasting up to 4 minutes. The groups can present 2 performances with a total duration of up to 8 minutes.
The event has no age restrictions.

Pop song festival “Take off!”
The event was created to realize the musical potential of the younger generation. It is aimed at popularizing song art, supporting young talents, and enhancing the overall cultural development among young people.
At the festival, young talents can meet honored artists, representatives of show business, performers from other regions of the country and abroad. This will provide an incentive for the further development of their skills.
The following nominations are presented at the competition:
- pop vocals in Russian;
- pop vocals in a foreign language;
- jazz performance;
- Euro-Hit (performance of a song that has ever sounded at the Eurovision Song Contest).
The age of participants is from 5 to 25 years. According to the regulations, in each nomination only one work can be demonstrated. Its duration is up to 4 minutes.

Vocal competitions in the regions
Among the Russian population there are many talents, so all kinds of musical events are held not only in central cities, but throughout the country.
IV International Festival "Siberian Inspiration"
The competition “Siberian Inspiration”, which takes place in Krasnoyarsk in 2019, is part of the project “Salute of Talents”.The project involves a series of festivals of children and youth creativity during the season. According to the results of each event, winners are determined who will be able to take part in the “Talent Salute” super final. The main prize of the super final is 500 000 p.
At the festival of creativity, not only vocal performers demonstrate their art, but also dancers, musicians, actors, artists, etc. Also, the organizers conduct excursions, master classes, lectures and other interesting events.
The following nominations were created for representatives of song art:
- academic vocals;
- folk;
- stage;
- jazz;
- vocal and instrumental ensemble.
Soloists, duets and other creative groups (choirs, ensembles, orchestras) will be able to present their art. Age is not limited.
According to the regulations, soloists and “small forms” can represent one composition lasting up to 5 minutes. The choir must show at least 2 compositions, one of them - a capella. The duration of the general program is from 8 to 15 minutes.

International multi-genre contest "Whale"
"Whale" is held in many cities of Russia. In April 2019, it will be hosted by Ufa. This is a diverse festival, where the talents of children and youth are evaluated in different directions: vocals, choreography, acting, art and fine art, cinema, etc. The winner will receive a prize of 15,000 rubles.
Vocalists will be able to take part in the nominations:
- academic vocals;
- folk;
- jazz;
- song theater;
- author song;
- stage;
- rock and rap;
- patriotic composition;
- variety performance in Russian;
- variety performance in a foreign language;
- retro composition (works of Soviet authors).
Young talents will be able to perform 1-2 songs, the total duration of the program should not exceed 8 minutes. Folklore works should not be longer than 10 minutes. Performance of the choir - up to 10 minutes.
There are no age restrictions.

International vocal competitions
Participating in international competitions and festivals, vocalists have the opportunity not only to show themselves in the international arena, but also to gain great experience. Such events are attended by bright performers from around the globe. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with outstanding personalities and see the diversity of the musical world with your own eyes.
Voices of Costa Brava
This international vocal event takes place in Spain on an annual basis. In 2019-2020, the competition will be held in December and January. Voices of Costa Brava is a great creative festival, in which performers from Western and Eastern Europe, Asia, America take part. Here soloists, duets, ensembles performing works of various genres can compete.
The jury consists of authoritative cultural figures from different countries, including Russia. At the end of the festival, the jury determines the winners and owners of Grand-Prix, who will receive commemorative insignia (cup, diplomas and diplomas). All participants will receive prizes from sponsors and event organizers.
Festival nominations include the following categories:
- Academic vocals.
- Jazz performance.
- Performance in the style of rock and rap.
- Folk song.
- Pop compositions.
- Musical.
Vocalists of various ages can take part without restrictions. Each team must submit no more than 2 tracks lasting a maximum of 5 minutes each. For solo vocalists, the regulation requires one performance lasting no more than 4 minutes.
In addition to the main musical action, the festival includes interesting meetings, master classes for performers and teachers, sightseeing tours.

Cost: 140 € when placing in a 3-bed room, 155 € - in a 2-bed room, 200 € - in a single room. Extra charge: soloists - 50 €, blowing - 40 € for two, trios and other "small forms" up to 5 people - 30 € for the whole team.
XVIII International Dance and Song Festival "Italy's Beaches"
Dance and vocal competition on the Adriatic coast is a great opportunity to show your talent and relax in a picturesque place. Rimini belongs to the resort areas of Italy, where there is everything you need: pleasant sandy beaches, interesting events, cultural attractions.
The festival is also included in the general entertainment program, in which everyone can take part. There are no restrictions on age or number of participants. Following the event, each contestant will receive a souvenir and an honorary diploma, as well as a valuable gift.
Soloists and groups can perform compositions in the following genres:
- folk;
- hip-hop;
- jazz;
- vocal groups and ensembles of different styles.
In addition to participating in the concert, during the festival, contestants will parade through the streets of the city and meet with the mayor.
Cost ranges from 165 € to 185 €. It includes accommodation, meals, organizational fees. The price will depend on the gradation of the hotel and the type of "guesthouse".
