Cucumber planting calendar in 2020

Planting cucumbers on seedlings and in the greenhouse in 2020

Cucumbers are a heat-loving culture, therefore, it is recommended that they be planted on seedlings with subsequent cultivation in a greenhouse no earlier than March, and for open ground in late April or early May. In order to get a good crop of cucumbers in 2020, you must adhere to the lunar calendar.

General rules for growing cucumbers

Seedlings are transferred to a closed greenhouse at the age of 30 days. In most regions of our country, this is done on the 20th of April, which means that seeds are sown in cups around March 20-30. If you grow cucumbers under a film in the open ground, seedlings begin to be dealt a month later, on April 10-20, and transplanted on May holidays. Cucumbers are planted in seedlings in the open ground no earlier than June 10, when there are no longer any frosts.

Attention! Cucumber seeds germinate at a temperature of at least 20 degrees, the soil temperature should be at least 15 degrees.

Cucumbers

Since ancient times, farmers knew how strong the influence of the moon on our planet was and worked only on favorable days. Planting cucumbers for seedlings is carried out on the growing moon, but the transplant can be carried out on a waning. Favorable signs for this culture are Libra, Cancer, Taurus, Scorpio and Capricorn. In March 2020, sowing seeds in cups can only begin in the last decade. The growing moon favorably affects the terrestrial part of the plant, and waning on the roots.

Growing cucumbers

Growing cucumber seedlings

To get a good harvest, you need to know the features of this culture.

  • Seeds of at least 3 years old give good germination and yield. The older the seed, the greater the chance that the seedlings will be strong. Seed germination lasts up to 10 years.
  • If you plan to use seeds collected on your own in the previous crop, then two days before sowing, they are heated and disinfected in a solution of manganese. Purchased seed is sold already processed, so it does not need such procedures. Home seeds must be treated with a growth stimulant.
  • Capacities for seedlings are selected small. Glasses 10-12 cm high are well suited.
  • Cucumbers are unpretentious to the composition of the soil. In the early days, crops are not watered, but only moistened with a spray bottle.
  • Glasses are covered with a film before hatching the seeds, periodically opening them for ventilation.
  • Seedlings are grown on a well-lit side, preferably on a south or east window. Air temperature should be at least 23 degrees during the day and 17 at night.
  • When the shoots begin to reach up, the glasses are cleaned in a cool place.
  • Plants are ready for transplant when they have 3-5 leaves.
  • During the cultivation of seedlings, top dressing is not carried out. Soil is enriched a month before sowing seeds.
  • A week before the transplant, hardening is carried out. Glasses are taken out into the open air. A day before transshipment watered.
  • If the seedlings are already ready for transplanting, and the soil is still cold, use heating of the beds with manure. It is better to take horse manure at the rate of 3 kg per 1 sq.m. Agrofibre is also used to warm the earth.
  • It is not recommended to get involved in early sowing. The plant will not be enough sun, which will lead to the extension of seedlings. Lack of lighting slows down photosynthesis, resulting in tissues receiving less nutrients.

Even inexperienced gardeners, knowing the rules for planting cucumbers on seedlings and in a greenhouse and having at hand a lunar calendar that marks the days when this crop should be planted, can grow a good crop.
