Winter holidays
Traditionally, the most anticipated public holidays in Russia fall on the New Year and Christmas, and in 2020 winter vacations can become really long and last as long as 12 days.
New year holidays
Officially, days off from January 1 to January 8 are declared holidays in the Russian Federation, but 2020 on January 4 and 5, falling on Saturday and Sunday, can be postponed to the next working days on January 9 and 10.
Of course, another variant of the development of events is also possible - the vacated weekend can be postponed to May holidays, then in January we will get standard holidays of 8 days and the shortest working week of only 2 days.
Most likely, with this development of events, many employers will offer to work these days on Saturdays, giving their employees the opportunity to relax and go on a long journey to relatives, to the mountains or to the warm sea.
The pre-holiday working day, Tuesday 12/31/19 will be reduced by 1 hour.
Defender of the Fatherland Day
The next winter holiday giving a day off will be February 23. In 2020, this is Sunday, which can automatically give us another extra day off on Monday 02/24/20
Since the official production calendar for 2020 has not yet been adopted, we will consider possible options:
- we get a long weekend from 22.02 to 24.02;
- following the example of past years, the day off will not be postponed to February 24, but to May.
Spring holidays
Spring also promises to be rich for the weekend, because the spring state holidays of Russia in 2020 were very successful.
International Women's Day
Since we will celebrate Sunday on March 8 this year, Monday will be a day off after the holiday, which will give everyone who works on the classic five-day week a long weekend from 03/03 to 09/03.
It is possible that after the approval of the official weekend transfer schedule, the production calendar for March will receive some changes (if they decide to postpone the vacated holiday to May).
May holidays
Having worked hard in April, we will get the opportunity to have a great rest in the first half of May. Pre-holiday working days (April 30 and May 8) will be reduced by 1 hour. Important dates this time are conveniently located:
- May 1 - Friday;
- May 9 - Saturday.
Most likely, the Government will not change the already established tradition of giving people long weekends for May holidays and in 2020 will adopt a convenient schedule of transfers. The most likely option is that the weekend from January 4 and 5 (or February 23 and March 8) will be postponed to May 4 and 12.
Whether this hypothesis is confirmed with certainty can be said closer to September-October 2019, when the order for the transfer of days is signed and the production calendar of 2020 is approved.
Summer holidays
In summer, Russia celebrates only one important date - Day of Russia (06/12/20)
Accordingly, the working day preceding the holiday date (Thursday 11/06/20) will be shorter by one hour, and residents of all regions of the Russian Federation will receive 3 days off in a row from 12.06 to 14.06.
A small number of weekends in the summer months should fully compensate for the holidays, which are most often planned for July and August.
Autumn holidays
After an active summer vacation, two months of hard work are coming, because September and October in 2020 are 9 full working weeks. The location of the autumn holiday will not please either. National Unity Day (11/04/20) falls on Wednesday, and even the fact that on November 3 the working day will be shortened will not brighten up some of the inconvenience of a torn working week.
Shortened working days
In total, in 2020 there will be 248 working days, of which 5 will fall into the number of pre-holidays:
- April 30 (Thursday);
- May 8 (Friday);
- June 11 (Thursday);
- November 3 (Tuesday);
- December 31 (Thursday).
What will be the transfers in 2020, and whether it will be proposed to work out the days that fall out badly between Russian public holidays and weekends, will become known closer to the beginning of autumn 2019.
