One of the youngest holidays in the country is Russia Day. This day is an occasion to recall the greatness and power of the country, to realize its involvement in large-scale, significant processes, to feel pride in the Motherland and its citizens. In 2020, the festival has a kind of anniversary - 30 years ago the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation was adopted. Ratification of the document took place in 1990 on June 12. This day is considered the official date of the celebration.
How do Russians relax in 2020
State Day, Russia Day was proclaimed in 1992, but declared an official holiday in 1991. Despite the fixed date of the holiday, the total number of days off may vary from year to year. If it falls out in the middle of the week, only one day of rest is provided. And if at the beginning or end of the work week, the weekend is significantly stretched. Title confusion
Until now, not all Russians know what exactly is celebrated on June 12th. As a result of a survey of one and a half thousand people from different regions of the country, it turned out that only 49% can accurately name a holiday. The rest called either Independence Day, or even had difficulty in answering.
The confusion with the name is the explanation. In the difficult 90s, when all the republics of the former USSR strove for freedom and independence, the deputies of the RSFSR adopted a crucial document on independence. And initially the holiday was called the Day of adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation. Proper information has been recorded in the Labor Code. But in connection with the cumbersome official name of the holiday, another, simplified - Independence Day took root among the people.
A few years later, Boris Yeltsin, who was then the president of the country, turned to the people with a proposal to end the confusion and call the holiday Day of Russia. Moreover, the name did not reflect the existing reality - by that time the Soviet Union, once a huge, multinational state, had disintegrated, all republics became free, independent and independent. At the official level, the name proposed by Yeltsin was enshrined in 2002 following the adoption of the new Labor Code.
On June 12, another significant event for the country took place. In 1991, on this summer day, the president was elected in Russia. And the victory in the elections was celebrated by Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin.
Russia Day celebration
Despite the young age, the holiday managed to acquire good traditions. In the framework of the “Russian Tricolor” campaign, which starts, as a rule, a few days before the solemn date, volunteers go outside and present ribbons of flowers of the Russian flag to passers-by. In all settlements of Russia, national flags are hung out, streets are decorated with posters and banners. On this day, the President of the Russian Federation addresses the citizens of the country with a congratulatory speech, presents awards for outstanding achievements in scientific and industrial activities, in culture and sports.
For the first time, the ceremony of presenting State Prizes took place on June 12, 2005, and since then it has become annual.
In all the cities, towns and villages of the country, on Russian Day, festivities are held, celebrations, holiday entertainment programs are organized.You can participate in sports and youth flash mobs, visit museums, exhibitions or see open-air expositions, undergo training at various master classes, purchase souvenirs and crafts at improvised fairs. Necessarily - festive concerts at which popular performers and amateur groups perform. And in the late evening, all of Russia admires the colorful fireworks. June 12th, it is customary to arrange fireworks in the cities and towns of the country.
A double holiday is celebrated in June 13 in 13 Russian cities: Russia Day and City Day.
But events in the capital are distinguished by the greatest scale. In Moscow, Russia Day 2020 will be celebrated on a grand scale. Moreover, the anniversary date. Solemn processions will take place in the streets, fair tents will be spread on the squares and boulevards, everyone will be welcome at themed festivals and master classes, sports competitions and shows. Entrance to many museums will be free. Stars will come to open concert venues, the main of which will be located on Red Square. The national Russian holiday is celebrated in foreign countries. So in Spain it is in June that various events dedicated to Russian culture are held. And in Limassol at this time, the annual Russian-Cypriot festival begins, a symbol of friendship and understanding between the two peoples.
