At the end of December 2018, work on the film "Silver Skates" began on the TRITE studio, the premiere of which was announced on February 13, 2020. Film critics call it the debut picture, because it will be the first film directed by Mikhail Lokshin and actors Fedor Fedotov and Sonya Priss. In addition to TRITE, there are three more serious companies behind the project: Central Partnership, GPM KIT group of companies and Kinoslovo. This full-length movie promises to be very interesting, especially since the shootings take place parallel to another “ice” picture “Ice-2”, and the difference in the release date for these two tapes is only one day.
Plot
The action takes place in 1899 on the eve of Christmas. On the eve of the new century, two young souls meet on the streets of St. Petersburg, where the festive bustle is seething - the son of the lamplighter Matvey, who inherited silver-plated skates from his father, and the girl from the aristocratic family Alisa, dreaming of science. It would seem that everyone has their own destiny and nothing to do with the opposite world for him, but Matvey and Alice are rushing into the future together.
With such a plot, the film will undoubtedly be successful, because in this tape three genres merged together at once: drama, history and adventure. The director did not just choose the era of the late 19th century, because it was at that time that important events took place in the life of Russia, which contemporaries are studying with great interest. There will be no idealized picture, in the film I will show at once three different St. Petersburg: the city on holiday, the life of the capital's elite and the everyday life of the cabal-criminal world. Dream, love, chases, adventures, and in some way a detective turn of events - this film will be all at once.
Filming
In February 2019, news appeared that in St. Petersburg in the conditions of a real winter, the shooting of the film “Silver Skates” had begun. On the scale of the cinema, this picture should be shot in the shortest possible time: all shots will be taken by May, and in January 2020 they will finish the work completely. To preserve the distinctive atmosphere of the Northern capital, it’s even planned to block traffic on the Fontanka embankment during the filming.
The film's producer Petr Anurov says that the Silver Skates project will be the first in the history of Russian cinema in terms of the scale of work in real conditions. The main thing is that winter does not disappoint! To prevent accidents, we began work on strengthening ice in more than 10 thousand square meters in advance. meters of the area of rivers and canals. A colored substrate was applied to natural ice and additionally filled with water. A lot of work was done to decorate the city: they built color fair pavilions, created Christmas paraphernalia. Usually in films depicting the era of the late 19th - early 20th century, everything looks gloomy. Silver Skates will become a colorful, entertaining project.
The residents of St. Petersburg were initially surprised to see how public utilities clean snow from the ice at the Moika at the Winter Canal, and when it was also covered with wooden shields and film studio agents appeared nearby, it became clear that the channel would go down in the history of cinema.
This film was not without computer graphics, the work on which was entrusted to the visual effects studio CGF. She has already shown her skills in the projects “Time of the First”, “Crew”, “Viking”.
Actors
The main roles went to debutants. Matvey will be played by Fedor Fedotov, Alice will be played by Sonya Priss.Actors had to undergo real sports training in order to learn how to masterfully skate. Despite the rather light plot, the film will involve understudies (professional skaters) and stuntmen.

The film was produced by Pyotr Anurov, from the recent works of which the films “Trainer” (2018), “Decorator” (2019), and “Selfie” (2017) are distinguished. He was recognized as the “Producer of the Year” at the GQ People of the Year 2015 Award. Co-producer is Rafael Minasbekyan, who has accounted for more than 200 television projects and films. He already had experience working on a large-scale epic blockbuster Legend of Kolovrat, which premiered at the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
