Background
Bad Boys 3 is a sequel to the franchise, which first appeared on screens in 1995. The story tells of two detectives in the Miami police department, Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett, who are investigating drug-related crimes. The main characters are the diametrical opposite of each other. The first (Will Smith) is a womanizer and a playboy, and the second (Martin Lawrence) is a diligent family man, father of three children.
In the first part, by order of Captain Howard, they have to pretend to be each other to receive information from the only witness to the murder. To do this, they change their lives: Mike Lowry becomes the father of the family, and Marcus Burnett plunges into the bachelor world.
In the second part, detectives have to find out new ways of supplying drugs to Miami. The investigation reveals the cunning intent of a group of drug dealers to become monopolists in the "black market", which other dealers will learn about. The result is a real war. Despite all the difficulties, the main characters manage to keep the situation under control until Lowry is carried away by Burnett's sister. Now the detectives begin to sort things out among themselves.
The second film received an unsatisfactory response from film critics. However, this did not prevent the two parts of the action movie to collect more than $ 400 million at the box office.

The events of the film continue the story of the second part. Marcus Burnett becomes a police inspector, and Mike Lowry is in a midlife crisis. They reunite when Armando Armas (a cold-blooded killer, drug mercenary mercenary), promises them retribution for the death of his brother.

The production of the film, as well as the first two parts, is carried out by the film company Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. Plans for a third franchise film were discussed back in 2008. The film company in 2009 signed an agreement with Peter Craig, who was supposed to write a script for the new part. However, in 2014, the producers announced that David Guggenheim is now working on the plot. By the end of the summer of 2014, the script was ready, and filming of the first scenes began.
