The movie “Crossfire” is scheduled to premiere in 2020, although it was originally planned to release it in 2019. The delay is due to the busyness of the main actor: Donnie Yen starred in the movie adaptation of the Disney cartoon “Mulan,” so Crossfire will come out belatedly. But the audience is not discouraged: they are ready to wait for 2020 to see their favorite Donnie Yen in two premieres at once.
Plot
No trailer yet, but synopsis is already known. Donnie Yen plays in a film by a former policeman named Eugene Lai, who suddenly finds out about his wife’s disappearance. She went to South Africa to help those in need, but, together with her team of volunteers, was attacked by unknown people. The whole group was found dead, and Lai's wife went missing. A desperate husband immediately goes in search of her.
The already dangerous journey is clouded by two aspects. First: the local police forbid Lai from interfering in the affairs of the security service, but his wife’s life is at stake, so no prohibitions apply to him. The second aspect: the drug lord nicknamed "The Poet" also opens the hunt for Eugene. Lai decides to get to the bottom of the truth in order to understand why an obscure drug cartel is needed. And at the same time, he discovers a group of policemen who have long hunted for the "Poet." Joining them, Lai gradually receives all the answers to the questions that tormented him, concerning his wife and himself.
The reflection of the title in the plot
The literal translation of the original name - "Crossfire" - quite accurately reflects the plot of the thriller. It turns out that Eugene Lai is playing a double game: on the one hand, he is a former policeman who must follow the canons of honor and justice. But on the other - he is a discouraged man who is ready to do everything to save his wife, including to go on reckless killings.
There is another movie of the same name in American cinema. "Crossfire", released in 2014, talks about the mother of a criminal who once again went to jail. Having realized that because of this imprisonment he could lose his family, the recidivist decides to become an accomplice and informant of one of the policemen. It turns out that "Crossfire" is also suitable as a name for the film, only in the original picture is called "Bad Country", which translates as "Bad Country". But the Russian adaptation decided to come up with its own translation, which turned out to be more successful. But will not two films be confused after the release of the Chinese "Crossfire"?
There is another "Crossfire" (2016) produced by Canada. The film tells about a female soldier participating in the war with Iraq. Returning home, she receives accusations of causing a fire in which the Americans died. Being shell-shocked, she doesn’t remember what really happened and begins to collect memories bit by bit.
Other Chinese fighters
The fact that in China they know how to shoot militants, the viewer knows since the time of Jackie Chan's comedies. In those films, an unprecedented action was also shown, which was accompanied by a very interesting plot. But it was comedic action movies that watched mainly because of Jackie Chan.
Gradually, the Chinese film industry began to develop and presented the world with several more excellent films.Among them are the trilogy “Ip Man” (2008, 2010, 2015) and the film “The Last of the Best” (2014) with the same Donny Yen in the lead roles. As well as the drama “House of Flying Daggers” (2014), action movies “War of the Wolves” (2015) and “Bounty Hunters” (2016) and many others. And these are not typical Chinese folk paintings that are interesting to watch only for local residents. These are world premieres that deserve their share of fame. And it is expected that the film "Crossfire", the release date of which is set for 2020, will also join the list of worthy projects of the Celestial Empire.

The film "Crossfire" 2020 is directed by Benny Chan, who received worldwide appreciation for many of his works. Among them are “Who am I?” (1998), “Police of the Future” (1999), “New Police Story” (2004), “$ 30000000 Baby” (2006) and others. It is noteworthy that in most of the paintings of Benny Chan starred Jackie Chan. No, they are not relatives: they are just namesakes.
The main role, as already mentioned, was played by Donnie Yen. This is a popular actor of Chinese origin, who is also a producer, and director, and screenwriter and stunt director. He is known to the audience from the paintings “Ip Man” (2008, 2010, 2015), “The King of the Apes” (2014), “Three X: World Domination” (2016). Now Ian is busy in several projects at once. In addition to "Crossfire" and "Mulan" in 2019-2020, several more premieres are expected with his participation: "The Great Master", "Outing the Fat Dragon", "American Revenge".
One of the villains, nicknamed "The Big Dog," will be played by Kevin Lee, who, because of his characteristic appearance, often plays negative characters. For example, it was he who was the hitman in “Armor of God” (2017).
The film "Crossfire" 2020 is produced by a tandem of director and actor: these are Benny Chan and Donnie Yen. The many years of experience of these two geniuses of Chinese cinema will make it possible to produce the excellent product that is eagerly awaited both in China and in the world.
