Fashion house Max Mara, one of the legendary trendsetters, introduced a new women's collection for the fall-winter 2019-2020 season, and we offer to evaluate her most striking images and main trends in the photo.
When designer Achilles Maramotti presented his first pret-a-porter collection in the early 50s of the last century, he hardly expected that today, after more than half a century, it would be difficult to find a person in the world who would not be familiar with the name Max Mara . This legendary Italian brand is insanely popular and, above all, for producing simple and mega-stylish clothes and accessories for people who seek elegance in small things.
The Max Mara women's collection for the fall-winter 2019-2020 season proves that the brand continues to maintain a high bar in the fashion world, being an example of sophistication and impeccable taste.
Fashion Week Fashion Show
The presentation of the new Max Mara collection took place on the morning of February 21 in Milan.
It was the show of Max Mara that opened on this day a series of fashion shows of luxury brands. The venue of the show was the brutalist building of the University of Luigi Boccone. As Jan Griffiths explained to reporters, the choice fell on this platform, since the things of the Max Mara brand are chosen, as a rule, by strong, self-confident, self-confident business women who aim at a career in economics, political sciences and jurisprudence.
The show pleased the audience with a stellar cast. Here you could see celebrities and fashion bloggers such as Anna Dello Russo, Olivia Palermo, Karin Reutfeld, Elizabeth Debiki. New items on the catwalk were Irina Shayk, Kaya Gerber, who followed in the footsteps of her famous mother Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Bella Hadid, Joan Smalls and many other top models.
Color spectrum
Jan Griffiths, artistic director and creative director of the Max Mara fashion house, remained faithful to the once-calm and intelligent beige palette chosen - the brand's calling card. Although in some bows he still allowed himself a little bit of a naughty play, introducing bright juicy accents into the collection.
The entire collection was divided into color blocks:
- classic black;
- Ivory;
- coffee with milk;
- bright mustard;
- milk chocolate;
- neon shades (blue, blue, lime).
Aufits are mostly monochrome, but all shades perfectly overlap. At the same time, one could observe several original bright details, such as avant-garde trendy predatory prints. Animal drawings today are on top of the fashionable Olympus and are not considered bad form at all. So Max Mara, always considered the standard of impeccable taste, decided to keep up with fashion trends.
Bright trends
The DNA of the fashion house remains unchanged, this, in addition to the predominance of the classic beige spectrum, is also indicated by other characteristic features of the creative director’s style:
- perfect fit;
- expensive textured fabrics;
- Perfectly matched accessories.
The brand is famous for its consistently high quality and exclusive recognizable style. They know for sure what women should wear and tastefully combine various elements of the image so that every day they look stylish, fashionably elegant, and, of course, status. Max Mara is a clothing for ladies, in which the luxury of details, exquisite materials and impeccable clear cut are combined with functionality, practicality and convenience. No wonder the brand’s products have long been popular far beyond the borders of their native Italy, including in Russia.
In general, the collection was not boring, soft, calm, absolutely harmonious and, as always, elegant.Simplicity, brevity of cut, lack of decor and unnecessary distracting details - the company follows these rules for many years, relying on minimalism and wins, it is no coincidence that bloggers and fashion critics did not skimp on well-deserved praise after the show.
The key to understanding the collection lies in the clearly visible influence of 80s fashion:
- coat and jackets with wide male shoulders;
- loose trousers that do not constrain movements;
- short cocky skirts in a tandem with a voluminous top;
- over the knee boots, mainly with a pattern under the skin of reptiles.
By the way, in a fashionable image, it is very important to think over the combination of volumes correctly, because today it’s “status and expensive” can’t be blasted. Strongly fitted silhouettes today speak, rather, of a lack of taste.
The highlight of the collection is fashionable to consider charming plush “Teddy fur coats”, which will become a real winter hit and by no means a momentary trend. Already now it is safe to say that cute bright faux fur coats have been tried on by many star fashionistas, including Julia Roberts. Bright models of different lengths opened the show and earned thunderous applause from the audience.
Among other outerwear, fashionable women received special attention to luxurious elegant coats and unusual ponchos with an English collar, double-breasted fastener and flap pockets, as well as stylish cardigans. According to Max Mara, they should be worn over suits, creating spectacular multi-layer images.
Accessories
Pleasantly surprised and spectacular accessories:
- gloves
- double tablets;
- capacious bags;
- miniature handbags;
- sun protection glasses;
- backpacks.
It is noteworthy that Ian Griffiths clearly adheres to a conservative selection of shoes and bags - tone-on-tone.
