On the second Saturday of the month, the whole Orthodox world will celebrate the Meeting of the Lord, which falls on the 15th. This date marks how Mary and Joseph brought Jesus 40 days after he was born into the temple of Jerusalem. Jewish tradition requires at this age to bring newborns to the temple in order to consecrate them to God. In this temple, little Jesus met with a righteous old man who recognized the Savior in him.
There was also an 84-year-old widow with the gift of foresight, confirming the words of the old man. She brought glory to the Savior who came in Jerusalem. In honor of this holiday, celebratory services will be held in all churches on February 15.
