Appearance story
For more than 300 years, the Russian fleet has been protecting the country's borders from the sea, although the first ship was built during the reign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. A real military flotilla appeared under Peter the Great. In 1700, it consisted of 140 vessels, while 100 of them were rowing, and the rest were sailing. Since then, the naval forces have constantly evolved and increased. Nowadays, ships equipped with the latest technology are on guard of the territorial integrity of the state.
Under Soviet rule, Nikolai Kuznetsov became the commander of the fleet. This man was devoted to his profession. He went a long career path, which began with a messenger in the port. Kuznetsov proposed introducing a professional holiday to rally employees. The country's leadership supported the idea. On June 22, 1939, a decree was signed to set a date for the celebration. In 2006, another significant event took place - the holiday changed its status, as it was included in the list of memorable dates.
