Many are wondering when the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be. This is understandable, because such an event is one of the most important events in the economic sphere of Russia, gathering tens of thousands of visitors under its roof. Heads of large industrial centers, companies, corporations around the world take part in numerous discussions, meetings, business transactions.
Moreover, since 2005, Vladimir Putin was one of the participants, thereby presenting the unofficial status of a “presidential” forum. This paved the way for the heads of state and political leaders, allowing the event to better fulfill its main task - the destruction of the barriers between Russia and other countries, the establishment of mutually beneficial, long-term cooperation.
The date of SPIEF 2020 is determined from June 3 to 6.
Forum History
Before you find out the dates of the SPIEF 2020, it is worth remembering how it all began.
The first meeting was held 22 years ago in 1997, and the Federation Council initiated it with the support of the Russian government. A high-quality organization led the meeting to success - representatives of more than 50 countries in the amount of one and a half thousand visitors came to SPIEF. The forum ended with a stunning success - the signing of an agreement between Belarus and Russia in the amount of 500 billion rubles, laying the foundation for future discussions.
1998 was marked by the creation of the International Fund under the auspices of the SPIEF. German Gref, then acting vice-governor of St. Petersburg, was engaged in his activities. In 1999, Boris Yeltsin signed a decree that substantially advanced the development of the forum, and the collection of necessary funds from the government began. This point becomes a turning point in the organization of future forums, turning them into an effective, prestigious business tool.
2005 is the year of the visit of Vladimir Putin. From this moment, the participation of the President of Russia becomes annual, although he had not honored such events before. As a result of this, the next time the Ministry of Economic Development is appointed as the body responsible for the SPIEF. Given the positive experience of previous meetings, the organization is heading for continuous improvement, improvement.
The president of Finland attended the plenary in 2012, and the arrival of Asif Ali Zardari, the leader of Pakistan, was also expected. Unfortunately, the latter could not come due to the country's domestic political problems.
To date, SPIEF has changed significantly compared to the very first meeting. He gained worldwide status and fame, became a brand that attracts people from all over the world, despite the political tension. The refusal of some participants did not affect the success of the SPIEF, which continues to collect more and more eminent manufacturers and business partners.
Features of the SPIEF
Since 2007, the venue of the forum has traditionally been Lenexpo, an exhibition complex with many pavilions. Given the growing number of participants each time, its territory is constantly expanding. In addition to event halls, press centers, there are separate pavilions-cafes, restaurants, recreation areas, exhibition venues where SPIEF participants can demonstrate their achievements.
It is interesting that the transport is provided by the largest world car manufacturers, such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes. Cars with the marks applied to them subsequently diverge to car dealers in order to be sold at a discount as used.
An important part of the event is the cultural program. Initially, it was supposed to be fun for those accompanying it, but over time it joined the SPIEF official program. Well-known world artists, music groups, showmen take part in performances. Open city concerts additionally emphasize the social significance of the forum, without making it a closed event.
During the 2019 meetings, agreements totaling 3.3 trillion rubles were signed, but experts expect the next forum to be much more successful and its number of participants will exceed 20 thousand visitors.
