The transport situation is one of the main problems that affects almost every resident of Moscow and the Moscow region. The underground metro in the suburbs should solve the problems of movement of citizens in the capital and the region, unloading both road traffic and Russian Railways. The 2020 scheme plans to combine several large settlements with further expansion of branches and coverage of other suburbs. As a result, the ground metro in Moscow will greatly facilitate the task of moving from the region to the capital and back.
Why do you need a surface metro in the suburbs
Currently, you can get from the suburbs of Moscow to the capital by several means of transport:
- Personal car;
- bus;
- train.
All roads that come from the suburbs cross the Moscow Ring Road. As a result, many hours and many kilometers of traffic jams arise, which create a lot of inconvenience. A new type of transport, namely the ground metro (or light rail), will unload roads and railway lines, providing transportation of about 60 million passengers a year.
Features of the underground
Unlike a regular (underground) metro, building a surface one is much cheaper. New branches run along the railway line, so the Russian Railways scheme will not be violated. The underground metro will walk along new routes, without interfering with the train, passenger and freight trains.
For the underground metro stand out new trains with a capacity of approximately 700 people. The cars are equipped with comfortable soft seats, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. To provide additional security in wagons and at stations, video surveillance cameras will be installed.
The train can reach speeds of up to 100 km / h. The interval of movement during peak hours is 5-7 minutes. This will allow passengers to spend up to half an hour on the road, instead of the previous 1.5-2 hours.
The planned price of one trip is 50 rubles.
2020 Transport Development Scheme
The project is being implemented in stages. Initially, the work will be carried out in the southern part of Moscow Region, since it is there that the largest passenger flow is.
The underground metro in the suburbs will gradually connect large settlements of various directions:
- Belorussian (Odintsovo, Nemchinovka).
- Riga (Nakhabino, Pavshino).
- Leningradskoe (Povarovo, Khimki).
- Savelovskoye (Sheremetyevskaya, Novodachnaya).
- Yaroslavl (Pushkino, Perlovskaya).
- Gorky (Balashikha, Reutovo).
- Kazan (Lyubertsy).
- Paveletsky (Domodedovo).
- Kursk (Podolsk).
It is also planned to connect the cities of the Moscow Region without visiting the capital by chords:
Metro lines intersect with the Small Ring Railway. Several directions pass through the central stations. Therefore, you can directly or without a large number of transfers to get to the Russian Railways station.
The underground metro will communicate with the usual metro at certain stations (Nekrasovka, Kotelniki, Mayakinino, etc.). Due to these innovations, the launch of trains, which was scheduled for 2019, was postponed. In 2020, work continues on the development and approval of a new concept, as well as planning the expansion of the message network for the future.
Financing
According to preliminary estimates, the project cost will be about 260 billion rubles. Its implementation will be carried out at the expense of budget funds and investment.
Among investors are domestic and foreign companies that are willing to pay about 20% of the planned costs. Investments will be returned through the sale of tickets, as well as benefits for the construction of the surrounding infrastructure (shopping centers, business centers, parking lots, etc.).
The most famous companies that have expressed a desire to participate in the financing of the underground metro are:
- Sberbank
- VTB Bank;
- Morton construction company (which is engaged in real estate in Vidnoye);
- Alstom;
- Russian Direct Investment Fund;
- Siemens
The state will buy the land adjacent to the road, and companies from China, France and Germany will take up the construction of it.
Project Timeline
They have been talking about the construction of this facility since 2013. It was originally planned to launch the first line before 2016, but the deadlines are constantly shifting. Such an object is unique in nature and requires serious design, taking into account the future development of transport links.
The design documentation for the surface metro in the Moscow region should be ready in 2020. According to the plan, the first section, which will connect Podolsk and Domodedovo, will be completed by 2022. By 2028, 50 new stations with a total length of 246 km of lines are planned to be built. Most of the routes will pass through the territory of the Moscow Region (192 km), and the rest - through Moscow. In the future, it is planned to build such a transport scheme throughout the Moscow region.
Projects of this magnitude naturally come across many obstacles. Now it is necessary to establish the coordinated work of private and public services, investors, contractors. New rail lines should fit wisely into the existing urban landscape. It is also important to minimize the discomfort of citizens from rising noise levels.
With a favorable combination of circumstances, after 4-5 years, the transport connection of the capital and the region will significantly improve.
