Warner Brothers Pictures Group is preparing the film "Cyborg", which is due out in the spring of 2020. Another solo project of one of the heroes of the Justice League (DC Universe) promises to be interesting in terms of the character’s personal history, and not only his participation in saving the world.
Plot
Young black guy Victor "Vic" Stone gets into a plane crash, after which his life is divided into before and after. He remains alive thanks to his parents working in high-tech innovation. They literally collect their son in parts, leaving not much crippled fragments of the body and replacing the affected areas with metal parts. As a result, they get a real Cyborg with amazing abilities. And according to the tradition of American comics, great power is equated with great responsibility, so the guy can not stay away, seeing how the weak and defenseless are offended. Now he is a superman who must fight injustice and evil in this world.
About character
Vic Stone first appeared in DC comics in 1980. This is an ordinary guy, the son of two scientists who put on him experiments to increase intelligence since childhood. In their own laboratory, a tragic experiment took place, as a result of which Viktor's mother died, and the boy himself was seriously injured. A father could save his son in only one way: to replace the affected parts of his body with cybernetic substance. So there was a Cyborg, whose history can be seen no earlier than 2020.
Before shooting a solo movie about Cyborg was started, this rather popular character appeared in various projects:
- in the animated series: Young Titans (2003-2006); Crazy (2010), LEGO Batman: Under Siege (2014), Unlimited Batman (2015), Justice League (almost all seasons)
- in the series: “Secrets of Smallville” (2001-2011), “Batman v Superman” (2016), “Justice League” (2017);
- in video games: Teen Titans, Injustice.
Other cyborg movies
The topic of human metamorphosis in a half-robot is not new. Everyone probably immediately remembers the Terminator, but it was a completely artificial mechanism. A cyborg is a biological organism with mechanical and electronic components. Robocop (1987) is suitable for this description. The hero has a titanium case and Kevlar prostheses, but the face under the helmet, the brain and some internal organs remained from the person.
In 1989, the film “Cyborg” was released with Jean-Claude Vann Damm in the title role. But the cyborg was not him, but a girl. She voluntarily agreed to become half a robot in order to obtain information to open an antidote to an unknown disease and save the world.
In 1993, on the basis of the success of the first part, the film "Cyborg-2" was released. And again, a woman became a half-human who was perfectly played by the young Angelina Jolie. The body of the beauty cyborg was stuffed with liquid explosives so that she blew herself up when she reached the enemy. There was no question of saving the world: the creators of the half-robot woman simply wanted to oust the competitors.
Where there are two parts, there is a third. True, Cyborg 3 was released in 1995 and had nothing to do with previous films. People went hunting for cyborgs to steal valuable microcircuits. But they were not ready for such a powerful confrontation.
2020 Cyborg
In the wake of the popularity of Batman vs. Superman, it was decided to develop and expand the DC Universe. So, in 2017, the Justice League blockbuster was released, where comic book fans could see all their favorite characters. Batman and Wonder Woman already had their own solo films, and the directors decided to individualize the rest of the characters too.
Aquaman will be released at the end of 2018. But the solo albums about Flash and Cyborg are still being shot, and both films are planned for release in 2020 with a difference of several months to give the audience a little respite and time for reflection. Whether the pictures tell the stories of their formation as superhuman, or the authors decide to focus on their opposition to supervillains, is not known for certain.
Cast and crew
The cyborg we will see in 2020 will be played by Ray Fisher. He already played this role in the Justice League, so the directors decided not to change anything. In addition, the actor has a contract for several films about the DC Universe, so he may also appear in the Flash story or in new films.

About the director of "Cyborg" is still unknown. The script belongs to George Perez and Marw Wolfman. This tandem of screenwriters has successfully worked on Justice League, Young Titans, Batman, and other DC Universe superhero films. They will follow not only the plot of Cyborg, but also the realism of the embodiment of his image. After all, comic book lovers want their characters to be as similar as possible to drawn characters. Produces a picture of Deborah Snyder, who previously worked on Wonder Woman (2017), Suicide Squad (2016), Man of Steel (2013), etc.
