The superhero theme does not lose its popularity, and lately, viewers have especially "hooked" on solo albums dedicated to a particular character. In 2020, the film "Gambit" will be released, which will tell about the adventures of one of the most charming mutants from the X-Men. The ratings of expectations are off-scale among not only comic book fans, but also ordinary girls, because the main role will be played by the Hollywood handsome and conqueror of female hearts Channing Tatum (“She is a man”, 2006, “Step forward”, 2006, “Dear John”, 2010).
Gambit - who is he?
The creators of the character decided to give him a French origin and the corresponding name - Ramy Etienne Lebo. His childhood is tragic, like that of many other mutants. Parents abandoned his newborn because of frightening red eyes. But instead of the shelter, the kid got into the Thieves Guild, where he grew up. Hence his skills for theft and gambling.
Ramie gained his superpower from birth. He knows how to convert any energy into kinetic. Simply put, this mutant is capable of dropping an item with incredible power and can even cause it to explode.
In the X-men cartoon, Gambit throws himself mostly cards, because he always carries them with him. An important feature of Ramie’s superpower is that he can control it. That is, not every thing in his hands becomes a weapon. This allows the guy to live a normal human life, but it's too boring for him.
Gambit Rami got the nickname for the speed with which he is able to throw objects. Translated from Italian gambetto means the rapid development of events in any action.
Plot of the film
It is still unknown exactly what the film “Gambit” will be about, the release date of which is set for 2020. There is no trailer or teaser either. But the authors of the picture claim that they chose a romantic comedy as an additional genre. This surprised the comic book fans because they were expecting classic action. But one of the producers, Simon Kinberg (“Type Cops”, 2014; “Deadpool”, 2016; “Murder on the Orient Express,” 2017) said that there are 3 things that contribute to this.
- Firstly, Gambit in all comics is represented by a crook and a womanizer (here she is romance), and at the same time he is very sharp on the tongue (and here comes the comedy).
- Secondly, the image of Channing Tatum already hints at the presence of love relationships in the film.
- Thirdly, the genre of romantic comedy for a superhero picture is unusual, and therefore attractive.
There is an opinion that according to the plot Gambit will have to save not only himself, as he usually does, but also fight for the lives of other people. And most likely it will be his lover. But the viewer can not worry: there will be plenty of fights and shootings in the film. This is Marvel.
Film crew
Filming involved in the 20th Century Fox film studio. But who will shoot the "Gambit" is still unknown. Gor Verbinski was initially appointed as a director, but subsequently refused because he was too busy with other projects. As a result, the shooting, which was supposed to begin in March 2018 in New Orleans, had to be postponed.
But the production team is already assembled. It will include:
- Reed Caroline (Super Mike, 2012; Macho and Nerd, 2014);
- David Crockett (Rebel, 2006; Seven Lives, 2008);
- Simon Kinberg;
- Channing Tatum.
Chris Clairmont worked on the script and wrote the stories for many films about superheroes: X-Men: First Class (2011), Logan (2017), Deadpool 2 (2018).
Most likely, the director has already been found, because not only the year is known, but also the exact date when the “Gambit” will be. According to rumors, the shooting takes place in Montreal, where many films about X-Men were filmed.
Cast
Shooting the film "Gambit" 2020 has not yet begun, so it's too early to talk about the actors involved in it. But Channing Tatum was absolutely approved for the role: photos even appeared on the network in which he appeared in the image of this character. The actor looks very harmonious, and fans of the cartoon about X-Menov even claim that he looks like his cartoon version.
Tatum holds on tightly to this role, despite the postponements of the filming and the premiere of Gambit. He wanted to play this impudent mutant in the superhero action movie X-Men: The Beginning. Wolverine ”(2009), but then the casting was held by Taylor Kitsch. When plans were announced for shooting a solo album about Gambit, Channing decided not to miss his chance. By the way, if you put Ramy Lebo, Taylor Kitsch and Channing Tatum in a row, you can see a certain similarity in appearance. These are slightly frowned eyes and a look from underneath.
The company Channing Tatum will be Lizzy Kaplan ("Mean Girls", 2004, "127 Hours", 2010, the series "Masters of Sex", 2013-2016). She will play the role of the fatal beauty, who will win the heart of the obstinate Ramie. Whether she becomes Shelma, with whom, according to the script of some comics, Gambit is not just love, but also children, is unknown. But this is unlikely, because the film "Gambit" is still a solo album dedicated to one hero.
In addition to Kaplan, Lea Seydoux, Rebecca Ferguson and Abby Lee were considered for the role of the girl Gambit. It was Seydou who was especially carefully considered, because she is French, and the film Gambit could have found a special charm. In general, all of the listed actresses have a very unusual appearance: this is not standard, but a mysterious and very attractive beauty.
